I've used this a bunch. My number one piece of advice is to do small projects. Don't try to set out to make some big giant RPG. Do little self contained stories. Eventually you'll know when/if you think you could pull something big off.

Also I wouldn't get super stressed about learning how to script and stuff. There's a ton of stuff you can do with the software's basic rules that a lot of people don't even know about, they just warp straight to the "gotta use this script!" mentality. Switches and variables and events can do so much.

The main thing I like about RPG Maker is the story telling ability. I've made games where there isn't even any battles or stuff. You can straight up recreate Mass Effect style party conversation and bonding systems, just using the basic tools the software gives you. All variables, switches, etc. You can do your chat idea from your first post. You can keep track of a party member's bond with your MC using variables, then triggering events depending on if they like you enough. Choose the correct dialogue choice/give them the correct gift, that increases their bond with you (a variable), then later on they'll want to bang you because their bond number is high enough! That's the kind of stuff I really like!

For general storyline progress, it may be better to use a variable. Every time the player passes a story milestone, increase the variable. Unlock and lock story events based on its value. Switches can then be used for minor side stuff (major sidequests may be better off with their own variable) or environmental things like flicking a lever.

This right here is super important imo. It's better to just use a few big variables than a ton of different switches. For instance, you can have one big giant main story variable that increases by 1 value with each big important thing you do, then stuff happens. That avalanche blocking the players progress is suddenly cleared now that they talked to some old guy in town, etc.

In conclusion, I made a sex game with this. >_> People who've played it have said it's the best sex game they've ever played because the writing and freedom was so good. <_<

The first 3 games are amazing imo but the ending of them does indeed suck ass. Andromeda gets the trophy for most disappointing game.

Yeah but then what if you just had to pay a small fee at the beginning of the year and then you had unlimited access to ubers at all times for free? That would be crazy, and I guess that's what's doing it for me. Just such a big operation to wrap your head around, because so many people use this service.

Yeah tons of times, but this is the first time same day Amazon stuff. And I get like pizza and stuff all the time. But this just feels different for some reason.

And yeah to the responses, that's why I say "bizarrely". It is bizarre. Of course I don't feel REALLY guilty. It's just more waxing about how crazy logistics are now, what can be done and still be profitable, it just sort of blows my mind. And we can do this, but then there are still so many other things in the world that need fixing. I mean the payment fee for this service is normally 10 dollars, but because I have Prime it's free. So then I just start thinking about people who do this tons and tons every day, and I wonder at all the expense and how it even makes financial sense for Amazon. Just a sort of contemplative moment on modern logistics is all.

Anyone else ever feel this? Maybe it shouldn't be so bizarrely after all. This is the first time I've ever ordered something same day delivery, but it's also the first time I've ever seen the option, and it was free, so I went with it.

It's 2 pm right now. It says it's supposed to deliver anywhere from 5 to 10 pm.

Like, I actually feel dirty and I'm not sure why. Or maybe I do. It feels so glutenous. I feel like a character from Wall-E or something. So some guy is going to be making a special trip, his truck guzzling all that gas, out specifically to my home with a Dungeons and Dragons Player's Guide in a box specifically for me just a couple hours after I hit order? I don't even know how that's logically possible. All because I paid for a video streaming service a year or so ago. Just kinda blows my mind and then I start thinking about villages around the world that don't have access to clean water.

It also feels kinda risky. Like they're gonna be going so hardcore fast that they'll be sloppy and make a mistake and deliver it somewhere else.

I will update how it goes.

Another thing, it seems to be a one to one recreation of the Dungeons and Dragons system, which is pretty rare for a video game I think. Has anything else done this?

I'm talking about the girl who got murdered in her own bedroom. Spoilers and big time trigger warning for a graphic fictional murder in a movie:

I forget exactly what happens, but something like this: clown chases her to her bedroom, and gets her face down and just starts slicing and dicing her back, cutting off skin. Then he slices her face, taking out one eye in the process. Then he splits apart the fingers of one hand, ruining it, then he literally rips off her other arm. Then he scalps her, leaving her bloody skull exposed. He finally leaves the bedroom, and the girl is still alive, and struggles to her phone, where I think her friend is calling. Then at the very last moment, the clown busts back in with a jug of salt in one hand and a jug of bleach in the other, and pours it all over the girl's wounds. Later on in the movie, the girl's mom comes home, goes up to her bedroom, and finds the clown just chilling with her daughter's mutilated and fucked up dead body. But then bam, and the girl breaths, because she's still alive. Mom's death is off screen, but later on trick or treaters ring their door bell, the clown answers and gives them candy out of the hallowed out head of the mother and everyone is all smiling and laughing.

Terrifier, movie about a demonic clown, has a scene where a woman is bound upside down and gets chainsawed through vertically.

I would say the sequel had an even more brutal death.
