Gun's and Roses is an incredible OP, not sure I'll be voting anything over it. The animation is so well constructed and the music simple but all the catchier for it. I enjoyed WOW WAR TONIGHT musically, I might even check out the full song, but the animation was a bit janky for me.

Very close match 2 as I like both songs a lot, I like Railgun's more and I think both have pretty good animation sequences but Shadowgraph's is maybe a bit unsatisfying?

As I recall there are three endings.

Kawaki wo Ameku

That LoGH OP was just bad, even accounting for the time. I give no points for artistically misrepresenting the content of the show, nor did I like the music. The animation is I think good for the time, at least. But Period is an amazing song and the video is also very good. Not close.

Yeah I was pretty sure Domestic Girlfriend was some awful trash but the song is good. The animation isn't generally noteworthy but neither is its opponent's.

Have a Galaxy S21+. Will probably upgrade next year, maybe to a foldable phone.

A Cruel Angel's Thesis

Ousama Ranking has an odd but quite good looking artstyle that's shown off well in its OP. The Samurai Champloo video is not that interesting, and neither song strikes me that much.

I didn't really like the World God Only Knows song. The video is serviceable, and I find it hard to rate NGE's with how much of a classic it is, but the song stuck around as long as it has for a reason.

Tabi no Tochuu

First match is an instance of great song with forgettable animation vs catchy song with cute animation. More into the latter but I like classic magical girl stuff. The second one, I was all about Wiseman Theme for the first ten seconds, but it wore out its welcome pretty fast so Spice and Wolf basically won by default.

Realize

Really good set of songs, I like all four. And the visuals are all good in their own way. Honestly I'm only voting in the first match because the OP puts all the questionable costuming from Kill la Kill front and center, but the visuals are pretty good still. I like Monogatari's uniquely odd sort of style in Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari, and it's a great song, but Realize does a really good job depicting all of Subaru's deaths, and it's easily my favorite Re:Zero OP as a result.

Nana Hitsuji
The Real Folk Blues

I admit, Share the World is good. It's catchy and fun, makes the show look good, and being extra length helps too. But Nana Hitsuji is still one of the most creative anime intros I've seen. I'm too much of a compsci nerd to vote otherwise. Not that I expect this reasoning to grab too many.

The Real Folk Blues's animation is nonexistent, but it's still a great song, and I don't think that much of the Engaged to the Unidentified OP on the whole. Also, and I think this is a fair objection, that OP is pretty rude towards Hakuya even though he's the male lead. That would turn me off of the show.

Brand New World

Ranbu no Melody was a decent song but I didn't think too much was happening in the OP, just a bunch of face shots mostly. Brand New World had a lot more going on even if the song was a bit weaker.

I like K-On quite a bit but not so much for the OPs. It does make the show entertaining, but I don't know if it particularly makes it stand out. gravityWall is effective at conveying the whole 'fictional characters entering reality' sort of premise from that show (which I ought to watch some time) so I like it better.

Ride On Shooting Star

I know nothing about Ergo Proxy, and feel like I know less after watching its OP, but it's stylish. As for Ready Steady Go, it's, uh, a classic, by which I mean that it comes off as painfully generic. The second match is quite close, I like the style of both of these OPs, more neutral on the songs. Feels like the FLCL ED would get me more interested though, not sure why I feel the Beastars OP doesn't quite deliver.

I think Hikaru Naru is pretty overrated, especially the song, but the watercolor parts look nice and it's generally a good looking OP. Alumina is probably the better song, but I hate the staticky effect and it only has a few seconds of being interesting.

Hate to vote against Magia as the song is one of my absolute favorites, but the animation is lacking, and Odd Taxi is quite cool while having a catchy OP in its own right. Kalafina is a legend though.

I'd take that auto include option, at least. I don't enjoy the nomination process that much and limit my engagement with it. I think in terms of getting in songs I want auto include might be a net negative but it'd feel better.

Kara no Kokoro
Great Days

I think the first match is fairly medium, both songs have fun parts but don't excite me too much, the visuals are also not that notable I think. Can't say I've ever wanted to rewatch the Lucky Star OP though whereas the Naruto one I'm more ambivalent about, so I'll give it the nod.

Dango Daikazoku is better than I remember beyond just being cute, but Great Days is super catchy and has some really neat visuals. Better quality match but also not as close.

Outside of potential truly joke includes like crazy bus or whatever, I doubt you'd be able to tell the difference between someone's pet auto include and the actual niche songs that sneak in and die round 1.

Took me a few seconds to think of anything sensible.

Although I of course plan to vote based solely on what I can see of the video and not any other factors, it's certainly true that you get more from an OP or ED visually if you know the series in question. That's why I biased my own nominations towards quirkier animations that weren't necessarily good at representing the show but could hopefully be more easily appreciated without knowledge of it. Not sure that's going to pan out though.

They announced a Sengoku Youko anime. I love Mizukami's manga, and I feel like this one might have a little more of a chance than Biscuit Hammer of being a good adaptation.

Anyway still enjoying Undead Murder Farce and nothing else from this season. Some people elsewhere are hyping up the new Bang Dream which I tried but was turned off some by the animation and some of the character voices. Will try to push through at some point though. Not sure there's anything else worth considering.
