Not huge into opera, but like some of it. La Donna Mobile is about that? Feel weird singing/humming it now. It's a favorite.

It's not a literal translation, but the overall gist is the same.

The Queen of the Night aria, for example, is about the mother demanding her daughter kill Sarastro or else be disowned. That said, the Queen isn't laughing about it, she's just getting extremely worked up about it. The lyrics actually translate to:

There is 0% evidence God wrote, helped, aided, or did anything at all in the Book of Contradictions we call the Bible. Doesn't matter whatever you're talking about whether it's NT, OT, the Tanakh, Dead Sea Scrolls, the book of Shadows, a magical tome, whatever.

Like I said last post, the Book of Contradictions claiming God wrote any of it is about as credible as some person finding some ancient scroll in the mountains claiming The Flying Spaghetti Monster God wrote it and he is our true god. Same to getting a following to agreeing and believing this for years.

That is the entire problem with this discussion. It just demands you have faith with 0 proof. It demands everyone take seriously whatever faith one has in religious text of some god they believe in.

Religious text saying something is real is not proof and neither is having a following that believes in it. Especially when considering the time period much of this text was written, primitive humans attested fairy tale stories for many of the things they couldn't understand like the weather, disease, or where the sun went at night.

And you're right on this. I just really hate how Christians, despite objectively having the least coherent, least complete, and least justifiable religion... have the gall to push it on everyone they see.

The issue is that you get all 100mg of caffeine... all hitting you at once.

Whereas with filter coffee, you sip an ounce and get 12mg of caffeine. It wakes you up a little and then you drink another ounce. So you now have 24mg of caffeine in your system. And so on and so forth.

So you feel the effects slowly with filter coffee, unlike the "punch to the face" of caffeine found in an espresso.

While that can be given for Christianity (see #129), too much time has passed for the Tanakh. About the only thing that can be proven is that the texts are the same as those found in the Dead Sea Scrolls. So roughly 2,000 years without change.

Until we can find the Ark of the Covenant, it's doubtful we'll ever really know.

It's the same as having another 8-oz cup of filter coffee.

And to top it off, it was written at a time where we actually have historical records of the event. And Roman records make no mention of G-d appearing at the Council of Rome in 382 AD. (Or in the years leading up to it.)

Further, when I say the Christian "bible" isn't, that's not my opinion. That's documented fact. The Council of Rome announced, in 382 AD, exactly what the Christian "bible" was. And Christian authorities had to do so, because Emperor Constantine had commissioned the production of 50 bibles in 331.

Which you can't provide unless you've actually determined what is supposed to be in a bible.

So the writers of the bible you use were Roman men between the years of 331-382 AD. That's the facts.

As for where to draw the line, one text says "G-d wrote this."

One claims to be direct, the other claims nothing more than to be a game of literary phone-tag.
