For the first couple of weeks I stuck to just taking walks around the neighborhood. On the route I take there is a giant hill. I remember on the very first day I struggled like hell up that hill. I had to stop to catch my breath numerous times. But a few weeks later something happened. I walked up that hill without stopping a single time. I didnt even realize it until I was well past it. It was at that moment that I realized I was making progress. That I could do this. You gotta savor those little victories

My A1c was 5.7 when it was last checked. Thats the lowest possible number in the prediabetic range. I saw the doc again about a week and a half ago and he said we need to wait a couple months before checking again, but it should be better with the way things are going.

Seriously the threat of diabetes was the kick in the pants I needed. Sure, Ive always known diabetes was a real possibility, but actually having it in my face like that made it real.

Ive completely cut out fast food, sodas, junk food etc. I avoid anything with excess sugar and try to get a nice balance of fruits and vegetables as well as protein. I avoid anything fried. I drink exclusively water or black coffee.

About a month and a half ago I was informed by my doctor that I was right on the low end of pre diabetes. Ive been overweight my whole life and that was the real wake up call I needed. I joined a gym, changed up my diet, and I havent looked back.

I started at 345 pounds. Yes, I know, thats huge. Im currently down to 314 and Ive started putting on muscle as well. While Im not anywhere close to where I wanna be yet, I feel better than I have in years. The high you get after a good workout is unlike anything else.

Anyway this is just kinda blogfaqs, but yeah. If you struggle with your weight and are on the fence about joining a gym, just take the plunge. Yes, its hard at first, but if you stick with it I promise it will get easier and youll feel great.

Im saying this as someone who has been overweight their entire life and is currently working to change it.

It is NOT healthy to be obese. That being said, you should never bully or harass someone for their weight. That is gross behavior and should not be tolerated.

I do believe we need to quit this narrative that its healthy to be overweight. It factually is not. We are encouraging people to eat themselves into heart disease by age 30 because somehow we consider that more humane than potentially hurting their feelings. Im thankful to my doctor for pushing me so hard. Ive lost 30 pounds in the past month and a half and Ive never felt better.

Thats just my take. I of course think its wrong people are insulting and harassing her, but this being obese is healthy narrative is detrimental to society overall.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. People really have a hate boner for Texans on this board lol. During this years freeze in Austin I had to explain to someone claiming we deserved to lose power for voting in republicans that don't anything that Austin is as blue as a city gets and that we were losing power not because of our state grid, but because entire trees were falling and downing power lines throughout the city.

Texas' major cities are left-leaning for the most part. Once you get outside of the cities it gets super red, but plenty of states are like that.
