Yeah I had to regain Diamond 3+ times before I got the 10 wins, last time I played it (few years ago at least). I kept dropping down to Platinum again.

Sounds like some of the interviews I've done. We had one where after I asked the first interview question the lady just started bawling saying she didn't know what she was getting into and this wasn't right for her. LEGIT TEARS. The rest of the interview was us consoling her. Luckily it was a zoom interview, because it would have been even more awkward in person.

By and large, by the end of the N64/PS1 era, developers had a good enough handle on camera controls that I wouldn't say aging is really a problem for 3D platformers (outside of graphics, which isn't really specific to 3D platformers). SMG's controls don't really qualify as "dated," so I wouldn't say it's going to have any difficulty aging.

I dunno, the wii mote was super awkward for some of the parts. Like when youre walking and balancing on top of a ball or whatever, and you had to aim the wiimote in a weird direction

sure, its more of a wii / motion control problem but Galaxy was built around that. Its still one of my favorite games though

Games looked amazing near the end of the SNES run. Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3 came out the next 2 years after that and those were some of the prettiest games on the system. They really mastered that console by the end

The Games with Gold list was a list of 3 free games every month that XBox would give to subscribers, and they are basically the cheapest bargain bin games you can think of, and they have been atrocious for years now. Look up the monthly YouTube videos that Xbox releases to announce the Games with Gold games. They are constantly voted down and the comments are full of hate. Thats probably why they stopped doing it

I like Azkaban a lot, but it feels out of place from the others. Not only do the sets and wardrobe look different, but the directing style and camera movements all felt different as well

I re read all 7 over the pandemic and actually still enjoyed them, particularly for the writing and world building.

but I was disappointed by the final 2 books, which I used to think were my two favorites as a kid.

my two favorites during this last reread were books 4 and 5, Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix

the movies were still weak adaptations though, with poorly casted children in almost all of the younger roles. Also the movies were targeted heavily towards a teen audience while the books remain targeted toward everyone
