Running (or being out in general) at night is different for a lone man vs a lone woman, sad to say. Some women worry more than others, but my gf for instance would never go running at night. She's reluctant to go alone during broad daylight, except to crowded places. But she watches a lot of that true crime and human trafficking shit that makes her paranoid. The behavior I've seen from so-called Trumpers is extremely antagonistic and ugly compared to anyone I've seen supporting Biden. I just can't believe how much this country changed in 2020.
I remember my gf's mom going to a Trump rally leading up to the last election and she brought back hats and a hoodie that read "make liberals cry again". My gf happened to be wearing that hoodie while we Facetimed one day back then, and we got into a stupid argument over how shitty I thought it was. The best part is she told me she tried to hide from me that she was wearing it, which tells me she knew it was obnoxious and in poor taste. I see Trump 2024 flags in the front yard of a house I drive by every day. I see "Fuck Biden" everywhere (Biden's no saint but the point is I never see "Fuck Trump"). I will say though I've been getting a kick out of Trump's mugshot being plastered on everything. User ID pics for social media, custom t-shirts, etc. And when I told my gf I thought it was funny she defended him by saying "and it's all bullshit too". I changed the subject. | LoveLikeJazz 10/16/23 4:34:05 PM #19 | My knees are okaaay, but I think this is only because I train somewhat athletically. Not for sports, just for sake of fitness/well-being and aesthetics.
A couple of years ago I had knee issues, particularly my left knee. I would occasionally get a jolt if I moved wrong and I'd have to rest a few hours before I could walk without it feeling funny. I also had/have muscle issues between my shoulder blade and spine (I believe the rhomboids) so I've had to do a lot of corrective exercises and posture fixes to strengthen that. I've made a big difference and I used to walk around every day in pain but now I don't have any at all. If I sleep wrong I do though. And not that anyone asked all this but while I'm on the subject, I had golfer's elbow (tendonitis where the forearm meets the inner elbow) from having a weak left arm. I worked on that a lot with dumbbell biceps curls and it's also a daily pain I got rid of. I used to lead with my forearms a lot because of the false grip I became comfortable with, and that led to overcompensation by my forearm muscles that weren't equipped to lift 20lbs over and over... and also led to a poor mind-muscle connection to my biceps because I wasn't using them properly. ...I had left wrist issues for a bit too, but it seemed to stop after a couple of weeks of pushups. Man my whole left side was just fucked for a few years. I don't mean my brakes give out, or I tried stopping too late, I mean my brakes are suddenly very ineffective and take a really long time to stop my car. There's a nurse here who irritates me because she complains too much, and sometimes the medical records lady has me make trips to the post office which I don't like to do because I feel too lazy I guess, but otherwise nothing. Most days I just sit around on my PC waiting for people to ask for shit because I've done everything I have to do by like lunch time.
It's close to home and I get paid fairly well for the work, quality of life is good. I'm enjoying it while it lasts, eventually I'll be forced to move by my gf who doesn't want to stay here forever... I started the song before typing this and paused at 42 seconds because I felt tears coming on. My mom's still alive and well, but that particular song reminds me of being a little kid and riding in the car with her. She raised me mostly by herself and we spent a lot of time together, and thinking of those old times makes me wish times were simpler again, and it's a reminder that, because so much time has passed, my time with her is running out.
