i like the cooperative part of mysterium. it'a more fun if you take the opportunity to trash talk one another's guesses and come up with ridiculous justifications when your guess is a stretch. to me the worst part is actually how long it takes to set up. i enjoy it overall though.

i thought exploding kittens sucked hard but i greatly dislike uno-likes, especially ones with nope cards. like CAH i don't really rank it.

thought the AOT ending was just okay. everything related to eren seeing the future kinda washes right over me and doesn't affect me much, so to have the final final act so dependent on that was pretty meh.

also up to now there had been no precedent for killing a transforming titan so it was at least a little jarring that they did it twice so easily. i also didn't quite understand falco getting wings which i understand they foreshadowed at the end of part 1. it looked really silly and i laughed, though that wasn't necessarily a bad thing

i think eren's motivations are generally "fine" and in character but the way they're delivered are a letdown especially with the time travel and super-long flashbacks. overall not thrilled with the ending but it was okay, and it didn't really sour an amazingly plotted story, though the immediate and distant endings are both bummers.

i went to r/anime and the outpour of nerdrage is pretty scary, but i probably have been there if the actual manga experience was something like game of thrones

some people say spirit island is quarterback-proof due to its complexity - curious to see your opinion on that

i think games that are designed around communication restrictions are cool too. hanabi, codenames (duet), etc

that said yeah i also tend to enjoy most pandemic-likes, the games that actually are QB'able, as long as i like the people i'm playing with

cards against humanity - i don't even rank this as a board game but yes it sucks. apples to apples is better honestly because it doesn't rely on shock value or just plain racism and other forms of punching down

fury of dracula - curious to try but you've enumerated all the reasons i would never buy before trying. a LONG hidden movement game with few clues and massive disadvantages seems rough! that said i do enjoy specter ops - imperfect but has way fewer of the issues you mention with FOD (combat and deduction and game length).

dead of winter - i was very interested in this game when it came out, partially because it was the hotness, and partially because avalon was my favorite game and i was looking for games with similar feel. by the time i actually did play it, i had a lot more board gaming experience, and it felt like it flopped. maybe it's better with more play, but spending half the game digging through a small deck for the right card in a fetchquest was real bad, and yeah, the exposure rolls sucked too. that said maybe your group needs to play a little faster? sounds like you're experiencing 2.5h+ games?

TCGCP - never heard of this. it actually sounds hilarious, but maybe it could use a different method of competition other than slapping - like grabbing the totem in jungle speed, one of the greatest dexterity components of all time lol

eldritch horror - this is another one that i was interested in way back when, but basically every positive thing i've ever read about it comes with a lot of caveat emptors, and i've since lost interest. cthulu-adjacent themes never really seem to do it for me anyway.

jealous that your gaming group has re-coalesced! my activity has largely dropped off a cliff and been quite sporadic since the pandemic other than with my partner. instead i've gotten a lot into playing online on board game arena

yeah, random encounters haven't been too much of an issue (though since when does poison also essentially just stop you?!)

i've been trying to get auto life on people with the rebirth ring. haven't encountered auto haste/running shoes.

zidane's at like... 55-57? dagger's at 50-52 but she's not in the rotation right now. the others are a mix in the low-mid-40s. i try to rotate whenever i'm given the opportunity but it's definitely leading to gaps level-wise.

it's possible that the claw attack killed me because it absorbed so much of my strength first?

ok if zidane is actually attacking instead of trying to steal, this battle is a lot easier. body temp and absorbing wind also helped a lot early, so thanks for that. not getting into a healing hole meant i could focus on giving haste to all my attackers (eiko is my white mage; was giving haste to zidane with a potent physical attack, freya with her jump, and amarant with his physical attack as i've run low on throwables lol)

is there another shop opportunity incoming or should i be leaving to try to get that?

the shadow claw (silence claw?) has been 1-hit KOing me (though he uses it super infrequently)

is there a trick against tiamat? it's just reducing all my attacks AND summons to near zero and then snorting me away if i actually attack it physically

also god zidane's steal SUCKS

has a block, reb, and assist in the first minute and a half. love it

Suspect it's because this Celtics game has gone on three hours

Climb to the Beat doesn't seem like it'd be too bad with just me but timing based levels with a partner in this game can be rough

i've been really struggling even through super mario world so i don't know that this would be a good idea for me, but i've been looking for good couch co-ops (in theory) since overcooked...

really don't see the suns having the health to win 4 straight playoff series. think you can count on KD to fade physically
