It used to be even uglier, but I don't think it's ever going to polish up. It's a very rough visual layer with a set of mechanics that most closely resembles Across the Obelisk - lots of buffs and debuffs and a lot of reliance on synergy over singular powerful cards.

I've been having pretty bum luck lately in breach wanderers. Had 2 consecutive runs die in act 1, had a couple that made it deep into act 3 but never really had any cohesion so died to a boss, and haven't rolled an act 3 superboss in a week or so.

Maybe I need to refine my starting decks or pools, but I haven't felt very inspired by any archetype lately.

I smoked for many years, quit about 7 years ago, smoked because I have/had undiagnosed ADHD and it was the only thing that I could come up with that would let me focus on some collegiate math classes. Nicotine ended up making it much easier to pass that class, but I was hooked for a long time afterwards and it cost me way more than I'd like to admit.

To go back to the original statement from TC, I don't think there's any major grounds for valve to be sued for gambling. Most of what you're seeing is from 3rd party organizers, who are at most enabled by valve. But ESL, PGL, and a bunch of other 3 letter organizations that I can't remember despite having worked with them are very in bed with gambling companies for their sponsorships, and even then are generally insolvent.

Counter Strike is the closest thing to a real sport ever conceived in video games. You have two teams, different positions, roles, responsibilities, tactics/strategy. The games start out the same every time. There's an offense and defense. It's just like a real sport.

If you don't see the appeal, then you probably also don't like watching regular sports. Which is fine, but it's deserving of its popularity.

Stuff like Dota or Street fighter are bizarre in context. There's all kinds of nuts asynchronous gameplay going on. It's very unsportslike.

if you consider the draft and side selection as part of the game, dota is definitely sports-like, it's just that the asymmetry begins there. It's remarkable to look into, but it is a huge hole that you can accidentally sink all of your attention into. CS even has the same level of asymmetry with C/CT side and the different weaponry you can buy.

Dota's esports scene is really bad. The money is falling out too, a lot of the talent is very behind on being paid. I realized that it wasn't a healthy ecosystem and got out before it would have required personal sacrifices. Still makes me sad. Then again, I think every esports ecosystem is like that, especially right now.

I got sun poisoning real bad when I was in college, went up to the beach on lake Erie for the 4th of July, didn't wear sunscreen like a rube. Had to work the next day unloading a truck, I was the only guy on duty, I picked up 2 or 3 boxes, and then keeled over and vomited in the grass next to the truck. I had to go home, didn't even know you could get that sick from sun poisoning.

I think it was something like

"ZOMG smeedly I want you in my intestines!!!1!"

Obviously it hasn't really aged well, but I remember it from years and years ago. One of those little random brainworms.

I miss the old sig, smeedly. I still remember it.

There's a couple of superbosses that can show up in act 3 of breach wanderers. I haven't managed to win against one yet, even when I have a very strong deck and go in with full health and get some setup going, it seems like all of them have hidden seconds phases where they apply a zillion buffs just like the champion in STS

Could a pihole work to block them at the router level? Not sure if that's a thing or if the pihole is just for incoming requests

I'm starting to shop around for houses and such, and I'm not sure if things are going to work out with my current girlfriend, or if I even really want to get married ever, and I guess I'm trying to figure out how much space I would want for myself and 4 bedrooms is like this magical barrier my mind won't cross

Oh yeah, in addition to breach wanderers there was another that really piqued my interest for a while on mobile: tavern rumble.

Deckbuilder where each round you place units from your cards on a 3x3 grid. If there's an event opposite them, they attack/ block that enemy. If there's no enemy opposite them, they attack the most top left enemy, and can't block. With a few exceptions, you lose your units each turn.

It adds an interesting layer of spacial thinking to a mobile game
