It is, however, an extremely useful social construct for people who fundamentally don't have much individual power--In this way it's like any other type of unionization. For people with political or economic power they don't need to rely on rights because they can get their way through alternative means. They are always the ones most primed and motivated to remove the rights of others as well, to no one's surprise. For everybody but the Top 1% or Top .1%, "rights" are an extension of coercion just like any other application of power to get what you want. That means the maintenance of "rights" requires the constant maintenance of class solidarity, as the rights can only be stripped away if the inherent threat of an angry mob is undermined through, for instance, propaganda, inter-racial tensions, or class-warfare between the poor and the middleclass.

That is the practical, realistic, and historically proven state of your "human rights". Dress it up however you want from their.

I don't think you realize what you're talking about when it comes to academia. Getting post-vaccinations studies done on the new cutting edge vaccine for the scary new pandemic is so fucking easy. Medical and Biotech universities are chomping at the bit to publish and fund this type of shit.

So again, and for the last time because brick walls aren't my favorite conversation partners - it's understandable how some folks could see "actor dons prosthetic nose to play Jew" and have an initial negative reaction to it. Whether or not that initial reaction should lead to more substantial feelings of being offended I will leave to people who've had to deal with that sort of thing. I have a big nose, but I don't have skin in that particular game.

It's been used as a negative stereotype for like a century. Again, I'm not saying this particular instance is that, but surely it can't be so difficult to see why some folks could be turned off by the idea of this, simply based on historical goings-on.

Having a big nose is not a "negative" stereotype, it's just a stereotype. "Big nose" in its definition does not apply anything negative to a person, aside from maybe a rather benign commentary on beauty standards. Not all stereotypes are negative, and not all stereotypes are particularly inaccurate either. If I was visually depicting in a piece of art a group of Ashkenazi Jews serving food at a soup kitchen they established for the homeless, Ashkenazi Jews would probably find it bizarre or even offensive if I depicted them all as tall, willowly black people with african hairstyles and clean shaven. This shouldn't be surprising. We know all ethnicities identify some physical characteristics within their ethnicity. It's what often most visibly identifies ethnicities.

Big noses are used in caricatures of Jewish people, specifically Ashkenazi Jews, which is then often accompanied by actual negative stereotypes like greediness, deceitfulness, and general "otherness". Just because large noses are associated with negative stereotypes of Jews, however, does not mean we have to reverse the causality and falsely assume Big Noses are somehow bad. That would be a pretty rotten thing to do, you since big noses are just a natural output of genetics within what is a fairly endogamous ethnicity.

Big noses are fine. No one thinks big noses are innately bad. Jews tend to have bigger noses. It's not racist to say, "Jews have big noses" although it's a bit lacking in nuance. Saying something horrible like "Jews have big noses so they can, uhh... Sniff out money hahah" is racist.

Having Bradley Cooper wear a prosthetic nose isn't racist or insensitive because we know for a fact Bernstein has a rather large nose, and it's an easy thing for the makeup department to do to make Bradley look more like the subject of the film. Which it does, by the way--Bradley Cooper undoubtedly looks more like Bernstein when wearing the prothestic. That much should be obvious to anyone.

This may sound harsh but it's a market correction. If a store gets 30 units of a new game system selling at $500 each and scalpers buy them up and are able to resell all of them for $1000 each, that means the market price for that game system is $1000. The store and/or console maker underpriced it.

This is an observation of the market but it's not a moral or ethical answer to the question of scalpers. Wealthy Cartel Kings are also a correction of the narcotics market but it's not a particularly interesting answer to the question.

I think the thing that still gives me absolute whiplash about this situation was how utterly arrogant and self-assured Tara was in the opening to her document. It just reeks of self-righteousness and immaturity. As if we needed more proof that these situations did not need to be litigated in the court of public opinion.

I've heard people refer to Wasteland 3 as a newbie friend CRPG. Though I've also heard people say it isn't a CRPG so make of that what you will. I will agree with it being pretty newbie friendly though. I'm not big into CRPGs myself but I've been having fun with Wasteland 3.

Wasteland 3 is just not a very well polished product and it lacking in consistent quality. Lots of good stuff in it but I wouldn't recommend it to a newbie.

I would recommend DoS II first and foremost. Great overall experience. Another recommendation I have is Torment: Tides of Numenara. It's the spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment and it has a very cool setting and good story.

Great movie. Prepare yourself for LOUD and DISCONCERTING.

It's actually an important distinction because foster care is temporary and adoption is permanent. The dynamics with the adults are totally different.

In MA if you emotionally abuse your child for being LGBTQ+ or fail to provide them with necessary treatment that can 100% lead to DCF involvement and potentially removal if the parent's are completely recalcitrant in their position. It would need to be excessive but it's technically possible. Furthermore, it's in the State's best interest, and within compliance of the mission statement of MA DCF, to avoid placing children with foster parents who might not meet the needs of their child.

As someone adjacent to DCF services in MA I can tell you there are plenty of bad foster parents in the system despite a lot of effort from the State to avoid it.
