There has to be some kind of collusion going on. All of these people who don't have political futures higher than they already are are running for President to try to recreate 2015 where there was a huge field and Trump could ride the wave over top of them.

Like this is all just a set up to try and help Trump re-catch that lightning in a bottle he had in 2016 that allowed him to be elected. Especially since both Trump is not stepping away like he should be and there is currently an active antagonism to basically all of the shit republicans try to pass.

I don't think we're really following these steps too well. There are symbols to identify LGBT people, but they aren't required, and the push to suggest every LGBT+ individual is some kind of predator doesn't also does suggest they aren't quite dehumanized yet. Polarization should also be way higher up. While there's definitely attempts to boost discrimination going on, its not nearly to the extent of some of the groups in the examples given.

though I am considering these "steps" and not a checklist, so that might just be my own bias here, in addition to "of course its not that serious, this genocide hasn't happened yet"

That said, there's definitely some Preparation going on with step 7.

On the note of games like Pokmon, they run like shit because of lack of optimisation and polish. On a stronger console theyd just bump up the graphics a bit and it would still run like shit. Thats a criticism of the developer and not the console IMO

I think it's a criticism of the developers not working within the confines of the console. Some of the towns in SV are grander than 90% of what's in say, TotK, which took like 4 times as long to make. I think GF mostly just made the game they wanted to make, and then hoped the Switch would handle it, which I'd consider a flaw of both GF and the Switch hardware.

On one hand, as long as a Switch game works within the requirements of the console, there's no problem here. If a game runs well then who cares if its underpowered?

However, when we get a game like the new Pokemon games, which run quite poorly, that's a very valid complaint to make, because something a little stronger would probably run that game with little issue.

And that's a totally different issue from something like JoyCon drift, though idk if that would really fall under "performance issue" or "hardware issue"

Also the stuff like, When someone gets written off Impact does have a tendency to murder them, or drag them to hell, or send them to prison. In the last handful of years, Impact has (in the lore) killed like a dozen people.

AEW is a pretty mixed bag. The like "writing" has been weak for a fairly long time and long carried by its incredibly talented roster. This is also why they're pretty bad at building talent. Even someone like MJF pretty much came into MJF fully cooked and he's just been spinning his wheels until the main event opened up for him.

If you want really exciting wrestling matches that are full of big spots, AEW is the place to go. But if you aren't necessarily interested in tuning in this week because "oh that match will be great" there isn't always much there for you.

BlazinBlue88 posted...
You thought the only wrestling company in the world was wwe? Not being shitty, honestly question.

Yeah he goes by his real name, Paul Wight

If you're like, a super casual fan, that's pretty normal. Especially since like everything else, wrestling has become extra niche that its pretty hard to just stumble upon another wrestling company.
  • Impact is either on a super-niche channel or hoping you randomly stumble upon youtube,
  • NWA tried a double paywall for a while and completely killed any interest in it (in addition to generally sucking),
  • ROH used to be on FITE TV, and now is behind a paywall on a niche streaming service (At least WWE Network is on Peacock, where you could have it for WWE-unrelated reasons, even casual wrestling fans won't give a shit about Honor Club)
And it gets even harder if you want to explore, like, Japanese wrestling or something. If you don't typically watch TNT or TBS (or if you don't even pay for cable) its pretty reasonable to have no idea other wrestling exists.

And adding on, WWE trademarks their wrestlers names and such, so when they go elsewhere, they have to change names, except if they're using their real name, or trademarked it themselves before WWE could. A couple more big names from WWE now in AEW:
Christian
Daniel Bryan
Adam Cole
Dean Ambrose
Cesaro
Rusev
Neville
Roderick Strong
Samoa Joe
Ember Moon
Ruby Riott
Toni Storm

One way to try and break out of it is do make up a separate task to complete to kind of refocus yourself. Though any real issues I have with the game I pretty much consider directly from comparing it to BotW.

Doe posted...
Breath of the Wild actually crafted its world around navigating it as Link, TotK just borrows most of that. Yes it has a lot of additional content but imo BotW is the king for creating it.

The runes of TotK are so powerful that they pretty much trivialize movement and navigation whereas BotW runes were more like traditional Zelda tools that Link could use to overcome obstacles in the world.

This too.

Don't get me wrong, both are incredible games, and I'd pretty easily recommend them to just about anyone. But personally I think I enjoyed BotW more than I'm currently enjoying TotK.

Starting in Gen 3 was when they really developed the "pokemon formula" with throwing in chosen one junk and being railroaded into the legendary pokemon every game, it definitely feels like a real move to a new formula that isn't present in the original games.

You aren't really just a random kid going on an adventure in the new games, so much as you're a chosen one kid destined to save the world and railroaded into teaming up with this god pokemon that is increasingly hard for you to ignore. In Gen 1 and 2, it was much easier to feel like a much more simple game - which is a vibe GF really wants to recreate - the pokemon world is a slightly fantastical world you can explore to your hearts content.

S/V tried to fix this a bit, by immediately railroading you into the legendary uber-pokemon, but also not letting you use it until the very end of the game.

I think Redfall will be the biggest disaster because it has seemingly already been forgotten. Cyberpunk can fix the mess they started with, and Overwatch 2 has the name value and fun enough gameplay to potentially redeem themselves.

Redfall can't do that though. There aren't enough people who gave a crap about Redfall to begin with for them to crawl out of this hole.

Butchering or not delivering enough for Iron Man stuff seems pretty on par for MCU stuff.

IM 2 really wasted Justin Hammer and he just hasn't come back since despite being one of the strong points of that movie, and IM3 went whack with Extremis and the Mandarin.

Like you can really tell Iron Man is successful purely off of Robert Downey Jr, and not really anything he had to work with.

Though War Machine is fine, because he's intended to basically be a straight man Tony can work off of. Yeah he isn't super interesting, but he isn't really supposed to be, which matches the whole MCU vibe of "Focus entirely on Iron Man, and don't worry about what else happens"

And I think IM3's story of Tony trying to deal with basically PTSD from the first Avengers movie is so much more interesting than IM2's "nothing much" story that basically feels like it could have been a filler arc in the comics.

I honestly can't believe AEW even wants CM Punk (much less pro wrestling fans) after all the shit he's pulled since August. Heck that stupid instagram post where he tried to bury the company like a month ago should have convinced AEW to keep him on the sidelines.

There's strictly speaking nothing wrong with Punk sleeping around with women in the locker room. There is however, a HUGE problem with abusing a woman training to be a wrestler to "keep her in line".

Shitting on Alvarez is just the easy thing to do when you have nothing else to say. FTR-Bald kept doing the same thing when he was spouting stupid "worked-shoot" crap, trying to convince people he wanted back in WWE, then he was gonna retire (for like the third time), then he wasn't re-signing with AEW, just constantly trying to stir shit, etc... and every time Alvarez said "yeah he's just trying to stir shit" would lead to FTR-Bald throwing a little tantrum because Alvarez is pointing it out.

Cite some examples.

I'll acknowledge that I don't have a ton of time in the game yet, so more play through could relieve these problems, but this is my experience from a-little-after-finally-getting-the-paraglider:

  • Weapon durability isn't that big of an issue to me, but it is a problem when you get to face a tougher enemy (something much more common in TotK) and your gear literally can't hack it. Add to that the fuse mechanic being mandatory now means that even trying to fight harder enemies tends to not even give you a decent reward because they have the same shit weapons as the early game guys. So instead of BotW pushing you to fight harder guys where it'll be a tough fight, but you get rewarded with a good (for the time) weapon or Bow, TotK tells you to just not bother with this, because there's not much of a reward for fighting the tougher enemies.
  • Gear being additive is stupid. In BotW this wasn't a huge problem because the tougher enemies didn't show up until later, and it wasn't until the tough enemies finally showed up that it became obvious you better have found one of those fairy fountains to upgrade your armour, otherwise everything just kills you ASAP. The level scaling was awkward because it was always this awkward race between upgrading your armour slowly enough that you can still do things, but fast enough to keep up with level scaling so you aren't immediately screwed when the enemies level up.
  • TotK didn't even try to fix this. Gear still starts off really weak, and having tougher enemies more common in the overworld means that if you stray too far into the wrong direction, one-hit will be able to kill you, and you have nothing to fix this until you find a fairy fountain and upgrade the shit out of your armor.

I understand and like the concept of putting harder enemies in harder areas in order to try to disincentivize you to go to the "end-game" areas right away, but the gear system means every enemy either does basically zero damage, or comes close to one-shotting you every hit. If you are upgrading ASAP the combat will become boring because nothing does damage anymore, and if you aren't upgrading at all the game becomes frustrating because one random hit will flat-out kill you, something that is very hard to avoid when 90% of the enemies are in hordes.

TotK having more powerful enemies spread around the world means that this problem is around for the whole game, not just the end-game if you haven't been upgrading your armour because you didn't happen to find a fairy fountain.

It's definitely going to depend on how much Nintendo means when they say "BotW format". If its just like "open world game" then that's fine, though open world games in general are pretty ehh.

However, TotK didn't fix a lot of the problems that existed in BotW (esp. mechanics-wise), or made some of the problems worse by not fixing the underlying mechanical issue, and if those problems are going to stick for the rest of the series it will very quickly wear out its welcome.

Yeah this isn't a good idea for just a cash handout. Because then there's nothing keeping that money in there, and what happens when you give (mostly) poor people money? They immediately spend it on the crap they've been needing.

Which means the overwhelming majority of money in the community will be leaving it, and then we'll be at the same point we are now, except Americans will be able to say they've paid restitution for slavery and things like Jim Crow, and nothing has systemically changed. And if anything, this will give racist white people an excuse to be more racist, because the government just wrote a huge check for every black person for something that happened 200 years ago.

~400k per person or so means that it can get basically every black person in the country out of the poverty they're currently in, but would it do literally anything to stop the other very real barriers that are put up in order to hold down black people? If not, its a very big check to kick the can down the road for another decade or two.

The better way to pay for reparations is to acknowledge the problems that still exist because of things like slavery or Jim Crow, and actually solve those problems, not just cut a big check.
