I think Biden would be a better choice than not voting and I would ask them to vote for Biden regardless.

I agree with this. I will say though, it feels like some people think Midwest states don't have large urban cities that have large and varied amenities.

Assuming you could go to school for free or gain certifications or whatever.
Let's say you could just study and have expenses paid for 2 years while you gain the skills or whatever

I think median salary would be a better stat to use to get an understanding of the paycheck to paycheck lifestyle than using net worth. Since networth includes people homes and a lot of people rent or dont even have spare money to put into the stock market let alone their savings.

Which is why I include the liquid amount they have in checking or savings.

I'm not saying people aren't having difficult times, but I just hate this paycheck to paycheck statistic because it doesn't match what the data actually says.

It means exactly what it means...whatever income that person earns, the majority of it goes towards living expenses of some kind (with rent/mortgage eating up the most), leaving very little left over to save for other things.

Hence why something like a sudden expense like hospitalization can easily put such person in the hole.

And I don't think that's true because the median household networth in 2022 was $193k.

That includes $39k in financial assets and $8k in transaction(checking or savings) accounts.

Yeah, but youd want to swap out the SSD for a bigger one, which takes a bit of doing, unless you just want to install games to microSD like on Switch.

If you can get a refurbished one thats even cheaper, thats likely the way to go.

Just get a Steam Deck instead and wait for Switch 2.
If you insist on a Switch 1, Id try and get a used revision 1 one so you can dump your games and emulate them better than the Switch can natively run them.

They'll have a place to live, and if they play to live there for the rest of their life, there's nothing wrong with choosing to buy. Doesn't matter that they don't pay it off. I don't even believe the average homeowner stays in their house for 30 years. I believe it's like 10 years.

And when they die, if they have family, the house goes into the estate and the family members can decide what to do with it. Either sell it or keep it.

And just to be sure. The point is that theft shouldn't be viewed as the reason stores are closing down, because the shrinkage as percentage of sales is low.

The distinction is important, and I'm not trying to downplay the moral panic of using it as an excuse to shutter stores.

I'd encourage him to do some research and find a way to work with the store on receiving and transporting the expired food. I believe some stores already do donate food to shelters so I'd just encourage him to find a legal and more efficient way to do what he's already doing.

That's assuming you trust the official inflation numbers. The higher actual inflation is, the more desire there is to supress those real numbers. When so many things have gotten 50+% more expensive in the last couple of years, I highly doubt wages have matched that.

Laborers in ancient Egypt worked 8 hours a day like we do now, and they had two days off per week, too, but also had way more holidays off than we do. They only worked an average of 131 days a year.

Free Romans only worked 6 hours a day, and only half the days of the year. They also had slave labor though, which is why the free Romans got to work so little, but still they were also the majority.

Medieval English peasants worked 8 hours a day, but only 150 days a year. 17th Century French laborers worked 10 hour days but only 185 days a year.
