^ Correct. Rostov is currently the logistical hub for the entire Russian Army in Southern Ukraine. Because he holds it no supplies can get through to the Army.

And because 90% of the actual Russian Army is currently in Ukraine he can't easily call up forces to defend Moscow. If he does, it'll allow Ukraine to take back territory easily depending on where they're called back from. Some of these forces may be sympathetic to Prig anyway (and have already switched), so the more forces he calls back, the more people that could potentially switch sides.

Russian leadership is in the muck right now. And there aren't easy decisions to be made to get out.

Wagner is too big and has too much power. And even the Russian public knows Wagner froces are the effective fighting force in Ukraine. There isn't a whole lot of military power left (vehicles) in Russian other than maybe air power that isn't already in Ukraine. So to defend Moscow, he/MoD will have to order the withdrawl of some Russian armor to defend him ( and given Prig is allegedly already in Russia he probably is trying to beat him to the punch).

Putin does have a lot of nuclear weapons, but how many of them can be fired? I doubt even he or his generals know that answer. He also has the support of the population at large given Russian TV propaganda, but how much? 65%? 50%? And of that how many of them have lost a son or daughter or haven't heard from them in months? or a Year?

Putin's only hope to remain in power and to avoid a full civil war are:

1. Order the killing of Shoigu and the rest of the Upper MoD generals for their failure to complete the military operation in 3 days. Replace them with Wagner/Prig
2. Order an airstrike right now on Wagner and hope it can be done before he gets to Moscow, and your pilots aren't sympathetic to Wagner.
3. Order the withdrawal of Russian forces to defend Moscow, and hope they can arrive before Prig arrives ( and hope the mobiks don't turn on you for sending them to Ukraine.)
