SpaceX won the Pentagon contract to provide internet satellites for Ukraine. They were always paid for the service. Elon Musk lied and said the services were donated and were costing SpaceX money. That was always a lie.

I'm seeing that the winning a Pentagon contract thing happened in June of this year, more than a year after their usage in Ukraine first started. Do you have a source for the donated devices and service being a lie?

When I was young a friend of my brothers was found to have been raping his little sister for several years and got like 7 years for it, was out in 3 or 4. Crazy large variance in punishments for crimes has always been an issue that bothers me.

Also I would have to agree that I think 30 years to life is too much not because of anything about the specific crime but simply because I believe that we should be using the preventative detention model with an initial sentencing cap of 20 years and life sentences shouldnt be a thing at all.

We desperately need federal laws limiting educational material in schools to that being made my approved and accredited institutions. Calling PragerU content rich in American history and values is beyond a joke.

Id put a vote in for NOLA as well, especially if partying and music are high on your list. Kermits Mother In Law Lounge on Sunday nights at 9 when TBC Brass Band plays is a consistently good times and there is constantly one festival of another going on that you could plan the timing around if one strikes your fancy. Plus the city has some really great food. NOMA and the City Park area makes for a nice day too. I really enjoyed driving across the causeway whenever I got the chance, its the longest continuous bridge over water in the world at over 23 miles.

Bay St Louis, about an hour east of NOLA, is a beautiful place to visit on the way in or out as well.

I need big truck for storage purposes for work. My plan is to get a truck with a 16ft box and I'm gonna convert a portion of it into a tiny office + recirculating shower+toilet and use the rest for work purposes. It should be fine, I don't have that many possessions and the only parts I've used in my various rooms are the sleeping spaces and the computer space, so the design I came up with should work (at least in theory) even if it does end up being a bit cramped.

Certainly won't be hosting any parties in it, but I ain't stressed.

Yeah, Ive always felt the same about what space I use in my rooms. Im looking at an 18 foot step van because Im a big dude and I really dont want to have to skimp on bathroom space. Im also planning on a recirculating shower, with a waterproof bench in it housing the composting toilet. I also want to be able to have reasonable counter and cooking space with an induction top and an at least close to normal sized upright refrigerator. Its basically impossible in anything less than 16 feet and I think the extra couple feet will add some welcome wiggle room.

What is your plan for sleeping space? I really dont want to have to convert seating to sleeping and back every day so Im going to try a Murphy bed. Ive also seriously considered trying a hammock setup but that makes having a sleepover guest and doing sleepover guest activities pretty much impossible.

I went back and forth between box truck and step van a lot before landing on step van. I don't want to add an obvious exterior door so having the built in full sized entry door in the cab makes more sense for the stealth aspect but pretty much everything I've seen says box truck is the far more enjoyable driving experience, having a "normal" cab.

Honestly it would probably be easier just to get a small rv or trailer and not need to worry about where you are going to shit if you need to go in the dead of the night.

Many, if not most, van conversions have at least a hidden toilet if not an actual bathroom with a toilet and shower.

I use it for some work communications because were a global organization and have people moving and working all around the world, sometimes in places where satellite internet is the only available outside communication method.

That depends on where and how the person lives and whether theyre traveling, etc. Its usually easy to find truck stops, rest areas, Cracker Barrels, etc to sleep at while traveling. A lot of people do boondocking, you can stay at a site on public parks land for up to two weeks at a time. It gets a little trickier in urban areas, especially if your vehicle isnt stealth, but there are sites and communities built around solving that problem. Its not a crazy thing to find somebody with a little space on their property you can park on for a low rent price, especially for a fully self sufficient vehicle that only needs to refill on water every now and then.

Politically? I dont understand what that has to do with the conversation but yes, very much so.

Im working towards buying step van to do a conversion. Ive spent the last couple of years planning it out in detail and am very close to having my budget of $20,000 for the initial van purchase put aside.

There are quite a few things that I am knowledgeable about and good at. For example, next week I am going to be putting my knowledge of and experience with home repair to use by volunteering to work on rebuilding a home that was damaged by a tornado.

I can go into a house that is nothing inside but framed out rooms and turn it into a home. I got that way by going out in the world and actually doing it.

Literally nobody that you think of as being talented at something got that way without any practice or effort.

The reason you arent good at anything is you, period. Spend less time whining and actually do something.
