I quoted that info from my friend verbatim. I'll pass on your corrections.

Sorry everyone. I'm sorry for letting you all down.

Ah, no worries. Didn't mean it to sound combative or anything. It just didn't sound right to me so I looked it up. Found the "study" from about 4 years ago that your friend probably got it from. They were very preliminary findings, based more on speculation than actual evidence, which isn't his (or yours) fault. The 100k years thing comes from the fact that humanity is believed to have started in Africa about that long ago before migrating out to the rest of the world. And since many aboriginal cultures have oral tradition legends/myths that are strikingly similar (including the whole "there's 7, but you can only see 6, because one of them fled or hid) they presumed those myths must have all come from a common origin when we were all together in the same place. Africa, 100k years ago.

Turns out it's much more likely that the Pleiades are referenced across the world in myths because they're a prominent formation of very bright stars in the sky AND they happen to be in a very important location in the sky (it's right at the ecliptic, and marks the vernal point for the spring equinox). So it makes sense many cultures would take notice. And as far as the stories about one of the 'sisters' hiding, that's most likely because two of the 7 brightest stars are very close to each other. So on a hazy day or with bad eyesight, they can be difficult to distinguish as 2 separate stars. Hence, there are 7 of them that people could see and name, but occasionally one of them would seem to disappear when conditions weren't quite right.

The constellation "The Pleadese" is also called "The Seven Sisters" even though there are only six stars visible to the naked eye. There are myths about one sister being abducted, dead or in hiding. There WERE seven stars visible 100,000 YEARS AGO. The myth of the seven sisters has lasted in human history for 100,000 YEARS to explain a natural observable phenomena that couldn't be confirmed until we invented telescopes powerful enough to prove it

It's the Pleiades, it's not a constellation (it's just a star cluster, or an 'asterism', found IN the Taurus constellation), and you can see 14 stars in the cluster today with the naked eye by simply getting away from light pollution and letting your eyes adjust to the dark. Also, the oldest known reference in text to the Pleiades star cluster comes from Chinese texts dated to ~2350 BC.

I don't believe it works like that. The Wiki says:

"Though the ATTS is the only organization which posts pass rates "by breed",[3] the breeds cannot be compared against each other because the grades are based on each breed's own characteristics."

So basically, all it says is that Pit Bulls are one of the breeds with the least variance? They're the most similar from Pit Bull to Pit Bull?

It's mostly true. There's obviously some nerve endings there or you wouldn't be able to feel anything at all on your elbow. And I think most people can agree you definitely feel it if you place your elbow on a cold/hot tabletop. But it's very dulled to the point most wouldn't describe a pinch as "pain" so much as "pressure."

Clean up the turnovers and the Browns are a legit threat to pretty much anybody.

But if they keep coughing up the ball this often, a decent team is going to punish them hard for it. How far they go in the playoffs is gonna depend more on who they play than anything the Browns themselves can do.

Man, it's wild how the moment they start throwing the ball past 10 yards they manage to march straight down the field. Funny how that works...

I'm hoping it was DTR being hesitant/nervous. Seemed like he really dialed in and calmed down for that final drive, which bodes well going forward. Still surprised they didn't stay with Walker considering they're 4-2 with him already. But this guy's got potential, and I look forward to the quarterback controversy next year.

I don't know if it's playcalling or just DTR hesitating, but the Browns have got to start taking shots deep and stretch the defense out to keep them honest. I haven't seen them even attempt a pass more than 10 yards downfield the entire second half and the offense just looks like shit because of it.

Yeah. It was your typical steel-frame glass door. I shoved it angrily to open it as I was leaving, but others were coming in from the outside so there was no pressure in that little enclosed entryway between the doors. So instead of it slowing immediately due to the air pressure, it swung unopposed into the wall HARD and split the glass from corner to corner.

I don't really think I've ever been a "grumpy" kinda guy. I did have a huge problem controlling my temper as a kid, though. Like some serious issues. I can still remember the exact moment that I realized I had a problem and needed to do something about it when I was 19.

I've been a competitive league/tournament bowler since I was 9. Well one league night I was bowling legitimately the best I had ever bowled up to that point. I finished with a 796, a good 40-50 pins higher than my previous best. By all accounts, I should have been thrilled. But an 800 or higher for a 3-game series is an award score (you literally get a trophy and a ring from the USBC for it). The only thing I could think about after I finished was the fact that I had blown the 800 by missing an easy spare in the last frame of the last game. I had just bowled the best series of my life, and I was so pissed off I broke the front door as I stormed out of the bowling alley.

Lost a couple hundred bucks and a LOT of respect from the rest of the bowlers that night. A couple of them just straight up refused to talk to me the rest of the season. v_v But it was the slap in the face I needed, and I finally decided to find someone to talk to. It's taken a lot of work, but I've never lost my temper even once since then. I remember one league night a couple years after the incident, one of the other team's bowlers was trying to talk shit and get in my head until his teammate literally said "don't waste your time, it's impossible to get that guy riled up." Frankly, I was damn proud of myself when I heard that.

Dafuq? Does nobody remember being a kid and how often you lied and hid shit from your parents? My parents were great, but they had no idea of half the shit I got into with my friends. Now I'm not a psycho, so the shit I hid from them didn't include beating people to death. But come on, these are teenagers. There's no chance the parents had any idea what they were up to if the kids didn't want them to.

Part of being a parent is trusting that when your kids are out of your sight, they're still being good kids. It's not always true, of course. But you do at some point have to trust your kid on his own. Micromanaging and hovering over them 24/7 is just as unhealthy and damaging to a kid's growth as ignoring them entirely. The situation sucks, the teens deserve to rot in prison, but locking up their parents too doesn't do anything to help anybody.

Im always curious why scams are like that. Obviously English is not the native language of most of them, but I dont think I have ever seen a properly formatted scam even once. Is it to avoid spam filters by being partially gibberish?

It's completely intentional, but has nothing to do with spam filters. Scammers only want the dumbest of the dumb to respond because they're the only ones likely to fall for it and send the scammer money. They write them intentionally bad so that people with 2 brains cells to rub together just immediately ignore it and scammers don't end up wasting their time on people who were never going to fall for it.

Of course it's art.

It's usually not very meaningful art. Or very good art. But art doesn't have to be good or meaningful to still be art.

That being said, I wouldn't really even classify it as "AI art" either. It's not really being made by AI. The AI won't make you a picture unless you tell it to. It can only follow instructions. We don't have rogue AIs wandering around making art to fill galleries on their own. The AI is more akin to the paintbrush, and the user coming up with the prompts is the artist. Again, not necessarily a good artist, but you don't have to be good at it to be an artist.
