I never saw the higurashi anime because I heard it was basically just shock value. The VN has quite an amazing story thoughIt's been a long time, so I don't remember it too well, but I want to say the first half or so was like that, and then the second half became more story-focused. But yeah, if you've already read the VN then I'd just ignore it. Like I said earlier in the thread, I haven't experienced the VN myself, but anyone I know who has either loved the VN but didn't like the anime, or liked the anime but still rated the VN way higher. |

Most people recommend the VN leagues above the anime (I haven't read it yet myself), but the anime also held up well on its own imo. |

| Bokothechoco2 10/03/23 9:30:58 PM #8 | I forgot Corpse Party had an anime. I never watched it, but I'm sure it's terrible. The game was decent though. Definitely overrated, but it was still good, and I would still recommend playing it. Since you said "dark" anime and not "horror" anime, I've got a few recommendations: -Neon Genesis Evangelion - Maybe a cliche mention. I'm sure most have already seen it, but it deserves to be mentioned. -Saishuu Heiki Kanojo (aka Saikano) - Very depressing, but definitely an experience. This anime really affected me at the time though. I had dreams of it for weeks after watching it. Despair is the best word I can think of to describe this anime. -Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku - Different type of story from Saikano but similar feels. Also, while the world is definitely filled with despair in this anime as well, there's also a strong sense of hope. |

Random battle rate is pretty high, and the voice acting is... reflective of its time, to put it nicely. Also, something I assume was fixed in later versions, but the PS1 version will occasionally freeze after random battles, especially in certain areas (generally avoidable by not pressing any input during loading before/after battles). |

World and RPG after that I guess, and then Mario 64. 2JP last. I never finished Yoshi's Island or played any of the games past N64. Idk if Yoshi story counts, but if it does I think I beat that one before Mario 64. |
