I think she was kind of making fun of you with that "not my date" line. Not mean, just teasing you for a soft out to lunch invite instead of a confident asking her on a date. If that's the case, then don't do the lay low thing. Straight up ask her out, make it clear it's a date.

Honestly, chances are she's into you romantically, and if she'll ever pursue that it's gotta be really soon. Don't worry about rejection

Oh yeah one thing that was kind of weird was that both at the party and at the lunch today she kept applying chapstick. I don't want to be weird and think too much into that but I hadn't seen her ever do it before. It was almost like she was expecting the possibility of a kiss.

Also at the party she walked me to my car at the end of the night (I parked really far) but then left really fast after hugging. It almost kind of felt like she chickened out of something happening.

I just wanted CE's take on this situation. I'm thinking mixed which usually means a no but I guess I also want to tell someone the story.

Anyway we had an intern at our work for the past 8 months. Didn't think much of her at first but IMO I was getting signs of interest from her, and I developed an interest. She'd touch me a lot while talking, asked me about my relationship status (stuff like "oh I bet your girlfriend loves that!", like a sneaky way to ask if I have one), and other coworkers who saw us said we seemed like we liked each other (didn't say this to us directly, I heard it from others). Before her internship ended she asked for my personal number and I gave it to her.

She invited me to a party at her house last Saturday and I showed up. I was planning on making an appearance but we ended up talking for 3 or 4 hours. She sat super close across from me with knees touching and kept putting hands on me while talking (grabbing my hands for emphasis, touching my leg, etc). I left and she gave me a hug.

Anyway her first week at her new job was this past week and she texted me first telling me about how it was. I decided to ask her to lunch which she accepted. When I sent a "see you there at that time then!" text she gave it a heart using the iMessage reaction thing. She always gave thumbs up before this so I really started to think she was seeing it a certain way.

We had the lunch today and she showed up, and we stayed at the restaurant for three hours talking. However I tried to pay for both of us and asked if she minded, and she said "Oh no. I mind. Greatly." so I was like oh ok, and we split it down the middle.

When we went to leave she gave me a hug and I said we should do this again sometime. She said sure and said Saturdays are generally open for her. I kind of jokingly said "Hey maybe I can pay next time!" and she said "No way, you're not my dad or my date. I always pay for myself."

I didn't plan on this one being a date necessarily, I just wanted to pay since I invited her. I was planning on inviting her on a more obvious date next time (like dinner) but am I right in thinking that she's shutting the idea down pre-emptively? I think it'd be more like "Only if it's a date!" or something like that rather than what she actually said.

My plan is just to lay low at least a week and see if she contacts me. Just wondering what CE's take is.

As others said, it's a polite rejection. I wouldn't bring up again unless she does.

This. Consider it a pleasant surprise if she does, but I would definitely not expect it to happen.

I was a little too young to be excited for any of those. I was born in 90.

Id be open to it. However with a few caveats. Preferably shed just have one kid (two at the absolute most) and be open to having more with me. If shes not then its a dealbreaker. If Im dealing with kids anyway might as well have at least one thats my own.

also no baby daddy drama. Its fine if hes involved and completely over her/in a new relationship. But if hes not and will be jealous/hostile and is a trashy dude, then Im not really wanting to put up with that. Ideally hed be completely out of the picture though.

Also, kind of interesting how the popular image of CoD is that of a super jingoistic pro-US game. Theres definitely a bit of that, but the US hasnt always been portrayed in a 100% positive light in the games. The villains have been Americans themselves more than once.

Pretty sure it wouldnt have an official release in the US, nor would the creators seek to have one.

No, the issue with cops in the US is grossly exaggerated. There are issues sure but not to the scale that the Internet likes to think and portray.

Just think of the thousands of cop-citizen interactions that go down daily without incident.

Im 33, have a decent job, car, my own house so I should have decent odds. Also in shape and hit the gym regularly. However it just seems so insurmountable to find someone and I just have this feeling of dread that Im going to be a lonely old man. I worry about it a lot and just find its something I dont want to open up to people about so I guess Ill tell CE. Its sometimes hard to even spend time on things I enjoy as I start to think about it and just want to do nothing. Sometimes I can get my mind off it for like a day or a week and be OK but it always comes back.

Anyway TC youre not alone.

I know it's technically later in the month but it always mentally starts on June 1st for me.

Same with fall bring September 1st, winter being December 1st, and Spring March 1st.

Yup. Growing up in the 90s and 00s in America, we never had anything like this. It was never on our minds. Columbine happened but it was more of an awful aberration and not a regular occurrence.

It wont be good unless its Japanese developed. 1 was the best, 2 was decent because the original team was still involved (though they werent the primary developer) and 3 and 4 were fully outsourced and thus had none of the unique feel that 1 and 2 did
