Funny enough, it depends on what control settings you use. Though for the most part it only affects overworld movement. When you get to the Cyberspace stages the control style is fixed.

I don't think it quite gets to the finesse of the Genesis movement though. You can get it close though.

I preorder because I still prefer buying physical games when they're available and I want to make sure I can pick my copy up on day 1 without having to drive all over town to find it, especially if it's a popular title that's going to sell out quickly

It's also easier to just pay the game off when I have money to afford it rather than have launch day come around and realize I accidentally spent the money I had earmarked for it

Plus it's much faster and easier to either have the game shipped to me or just stop in somewhere on my way home from work and just pick it up at the customer service desk without hassle, rather than wander to the back of the store, wait for an employee to unlock the case, have them walk it back up to the front registers, then wait in line

But yeah for a digital only game, preordering is absolutely pointless unless it comes with some kind of extra thing at no extra cost

Protoype 1 was the first time I remember seeing advertising specifically mentioning preorder bonuses. Prototype came out in 2009.

Most of the time we want to buy the game because it looks good and dont need somebody else to form our opinions for us
