I didn't agree with all his policies but I hold him in high regard and I believe history will do the same. I believe he made some tough decisions, some that worked out and others not so much. But I never once question his love for this country.

I voted for him both times and have no regrets doing so.

Is it? People who participated are getting weeks and months for trying to overthrow their own government, attacking capitol police, and smearing shit on the walls of our Capitol Building.

That's not justice. Justice is revoking citizenship, trying them for treason, and sentencing them longer than someone who stole a bagel from a bread shop.

And what do Dems have to do with 'justice being served'? Are you under the impression that political parties control the DOJ or police departments?

I said justice is being served. Have you not noticed any indictments lately? The judicial system has a process it must follow. I didn't say justice has been served, I said just is finally being served. We're watching it play out. However, if the left slow played this to wait until closer to the election, then I give them extra points for being strategic. Their timing, while slow for my tastes, could prove to be right on target.

So then uncharted waters?

Yes, uncharted waters. But how is it different when we're constantly in them? We've seen all levels of divisiveness up to and including a civil war. Which we're not currently in so quit the fear mongering.

And justice is finally being served here. WTF took the left so long to get after it? Unless they were waiting until closer to the 2024 election - thus proving they're playing games also. There are plenty of examples throughout history of presidents acting like dumbasses on both (and sometimes the third) sides of the aisle.

Turn off the news TC. It's always been like this and the media has you convinced the world is going to end. We're not in another civil war and even then, we still wouldn't be in uncharted waters.

Political divisiveness is and always has been terrible. But you're buying too much into the media.

1) When I was a student sitting on the back of the full size school bus. Everyone had their head out the window gasping for air. Then the finale hit - the bus driver turned her fan on to blow it back towards the front rows.

2) When shopping with my pregnant wife, I let one go at the checkout line. Then I walked away while she finished checking out and everyone thought it was her. She still brings it up to this day. And for the record, I'm not a total ass, it was a revenge fart for something she did (I can't remember what though).

I prefer driving older reliable cars for several reasons. I used to get all upset over getting a ding in my nicer, newer car. I had to pay for car washes. Now, I only worry about what's under the hood to keep it running. A car to me is nothing more than transportation. I've learned to stop dumping unnecessary dollars into depreciating assets. Again - I keep up with everything under the hood because I rely on it for transportation. But that's it.

My resume looks good but I'm currently married to my company because I make way more than I should. I've looked around over the past few years just always trying to see what else is out there and most jobs doing what I do elsewhere would either require me to relocate (which I cannot do for the next few years) or take a 30-40% cut if I stayed locally and wanted normal business hours. Thankfully I enjoy what I do so it is only concerning when talks of layoffs occur; especially as I get older and closer to my 50s. What concerns me most (and I even created a poll here about it a short while back) is how easily AI could replace what my team does. And without a team, no need for me leading them.

Companies know everyone in the supply chain to the retail store to the delivery driver are going to bang the shit out of their stuff so they have to pack it well.

I even have the original boxes for my Def Tech tower speakers for this very reason.

Yeah unfortunately hiring standards are low. For better or worse though that attracts more people that just wanna sit on their ass and collect a paycheck. You do get those dickheads that are attracted to the "power" though. Both are bad in their own right. On one hand you have a CO that will use excessive force over the slightest thing and on the other you have one that won't move a muscle and a inmate dies that coulda been prevented.

I've saved lives rather it be by jumping in when shit hits the fan or simply doing my normal everyday job and in the process finding and removing stuff like shanks. Just doing my basic tasks though like patrols prevents a lot of shit.

My point was though is I doubt a AI can access when strict adherence to policy and rules is needed vs when the situation calls for some bending of the rules. .

One thing I was taught in basic training I still carry with me is common sense trumps policy.

Adult or juvenile corrections? I spent a few years working in juvenile corrections. We dealt with pretty much anything except murderers - who always went to country regardless of age. Once had a 6 year old molester in there. The hardest days were consoling the kids when their own parents wouldn't even come visit them on a special Christmas visit. The emotionally hardest job I've ever had.

Also completely agree with the respect comment. Our limit was 11-1: detainees to staff ratio in one of our "pods" - with 8-10 staff always nearby should a duress situation arise. If you disrespected the detainees, your life could be a living hell at the job. And the people with power trips were the worst. I mean seriously... acting like a hard ass to a 20 year old just so you can feel power is sickening.

HANGtheDJ_86 posted...
Seriously, that's your response?

And yes, that's my response. And justifiably so. Keep living in your la-la land where you don't know shit. What I've seen from not only in corrections but for the rest of my time in criminal justice fields is more than I hope anyone would ever have to see. But keep having you uneducated opinion, it's your right.

This 100%. My mistake was looking for average cost of replacing these items, and not scaling it to our house.

For example, average house has 15-20 squares of roof; my house apparently has ~50. An average house has one AC/furnace unit of 3-tons / 60k BTU; my house has three fucking AC units each 5-tons / 120k BTU.

If what you are saying is true, then your house is large as fuck. And if you can afford a house that large, you can afford the upkeep. If you can't, you shouldn't have bought such a large house.

Not feeling sorry for you.

32k for a roof? I did a roof at the height of covid in late 2020, early 2021 - when supplies were scarce, and insurance paid 8k for Owens Corning Duration shingles on a 1904 sq foot single story home (that's a lot of roof). And if you paid 32k in AC, you must have a double system meaning you have at least 2 stories in your house (maybe 3 if basement). So your roof is smaller on a multi story house than one story of comparable size. And you talk of your AC system as it is a singular unit.

OP doesn't add up, leads me to believe it is full of inaccuracies.
