I've flat out thought about doing the entire project myself and offering a business proposition to my classmates where I'll charge them $50 for their portion of work. If they decline, I'll turn in the shitty paper to my professor and turn in the paper I wrote myself as a secondary hedge to save myself from failing.

If your team members have expressly stated that they want you to spearhead things, it's fine to have expectations and push for commitments. If you've just declared yourself leader without buy-in from the rest of the team, there's no reason for them to give a rats ass what you want.

I have expressed to the group leader that I will be "composing" the entire paper and the 2 other members at the time agreed. I think the group leader role is just semantics so I gave the role to the current leader and decided to take a secondary vice leadership spot for myself.

I want to get an A on this project, therefore I am NOW forced to lead even when I don't want to.

"Guys I need everybody to start sending me something. I want to start organizing everything by next week prior to Thanksgiving"
"Please send me something alright? I have the tendency to get unmotivated and stop trying when people stop caring."

If you don't do much, or have the same routine, time seems to pass slower at the time. But it will go quickly in retrospect because all the days just blur into one: you will not feel as if you have done very much over a long time period.

So if I stay glued to the television screen for 12 hours a day, 365 days a year, will I think that the year went by slower or will it go by quickly in retrospect because it's now lumped into one blur?

So by being mindful, do you mean counting the seconds in my head so that I'm "mindful" of the time? I can see how counting to 60 seconds could make me feel like the minute was much longer.

6 months went by and I still feel like it was yesterday. I feel myself getting older with nothing to show for. It's the same monotonous cycle: work, eat, fap, sleep. I think I've become complacent where my mind is automatically going through the day on default mode. Before I realize much of anything, the day is over and I'm going back home to repeat the same thing the next day.

Is there anyway I can slow down my perception of time so that I can go to work and have enough time to ponder about life, universe and everything else? Everything is moving so fast.

I'm feeling the blues again. I'm in need of a good show that can take my mind off all the misanthropy I've been bottling inside. The world feels dark and I'm melancholic once again. Will you guys be so kind to recommend me some movies or tv shows to watch?

Yeah. Having a utopian like society would probably depend on being a post scarcity society. In which the basics truly are taken care of due to an overabundance of material goods.

What I find confusing is that we have enough resources to evenly allocate throughout the world's population, yet we put rules on an economic system that should be arbitrary and call it scarcity because people want to be selfish and withhold for profit. We don't have an abundance of goods in the world, but there's enough resources so that everybody doesn't have to suffer. So in that sense, we are sort of living in a post scarcity society or have the potential to.

Unless there's some type of "altruism" genotype that mutates over the course of several thousands of years and we freely give of our resources without trying to profit, I don't think it's possible. I can't imagine what type of society that would create? Would we all end up dying because we lack the capacity to be selfish in terms of survival?

I think it's a matter of independence and how tightly close knit you are from your nest. Considering how the economy is now, I would actually consider 18-20 year olds to be actually 5 years younger mentally. They haven't had the opportunity to grow -- covid, inflation, tiktok.

Where did you start from? It's better to measure progress than compare to others.

I started 6 months ago and before that my normal range for curls was at 20 lbs. I'm just curious what the normal "unspoken" weight amount is for those that lift regularly? I've heard that 60 lbs for shoulder presses was a good barometer for strength, but I see 18 year olds in gyms cranking 100 lbs.

I can dumbbell press 60 lbs and shoulder press 45 lbs.
Lateral raises 15 lbs
Bicep curl 30 lbs
Full body weight dips 10 times.

Am I still a novice or slightly intermediate now?

Thank goodness I'm not the only one. Wouldn't you agree that someone "creative" would expand and say more than just "no" for an answer? The fact that people here are just posting one worded replies just reinforces my original point.

I feel like I lost whatever was left of my writing mojo. Now I can't articulate my thoughts in a fluid way; it seems like every thought process becomes hindered by objectivity and I end up simplifying my sentences almost like a math equation. Even if I want to go into great detail and expand on a topic with as much imagery and sensory detail, I feel an inclination to shorten it, due to being in that "math" mindset. As a result, I don't have my own writing voice anymore. I feel like I don't have that same flow and rhythm in my writing that made me sound personable. Writing just seems like a chore now. Anybody else experience a similar phenomena?

Perhaps this may only apply to me, but I'm starting to think maybe the relationship with being good at Math and creative writing are inversely related. Show me a Mathematician that can write like Mark Twain, and I'll die of cognitive dissonance.

I find that unlikely as she is religious (Muslim) and seems fairly serious about it. Either way I always just leave it in her court if she wants to talk. Once she stops Im going to let it die. I dont see a friendship lasting as she has said she hates pretty much everything I like. I think Im just a sounding board for her to vent about her new job.

I suppose the silver lining could be the absence of loneliness when she's griping to you. It feels nice to connect with somebody despite how one sided it may seem lol.

I try to treat them with respect and not discredit their work/experiences, but at the same time I take their actions with a grain of salt.
In a work context, if they are good at what they do, or show maturity in at least taking it seriously, I can overlook when they show their age while talking or whatever.
In a personal context, I try to listen and relate without invalidating where they are in their journey right now, or insisting my wisdom is the best move or only way itll turn out. I also dont believe in giving advice on the same situation more than once (that goes for all friendships, not just with young people). I think just understanding that sometimes making mistakes is the best way to learn helps me not feel too exasperated when others dont learn from my anecdotes.

however, dude- some of these kids out here are both hilariously and frustratingly dumb. just gotta shake your head and walk away sometimes hahaha- we were all like that at some point

So, what I learned from this, is that you too can't take 19 year olds seriously.

I felt like I did something incredibly rude today. During a group team building exercise, there was a girl who shared her experience about her past relationships, and I sort of trampled over her struggles with mine. I basically implied that she'll get over it, and she has her whole life ahead of her. Now that I look back on it, I was pretty patronizing. I hate myself for not taking someone half my age seriously. I hate the fact that I'm biased because I know I was an idiot when I was 19.

Anyone my age trying to socialize with an 19 year old just seems creepy. It reminds me of those middle aged raver guys lurking around college campuses bumping EDM music in their BMWs. Yes, they are quite a handful believe it or not.

First time my left and right side were switched around. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and thought the staff did it and asked her to email me a copy of the prescription. 2 months later, I'm checking for that prescription l because I need new contacts, and I see an email with a blank attachment with only my name on there. Wtf. This is completely negligence on her part.

I'm going to send her this email:

"Dr.____
I hope this email finds you well. I am now noticing that the prescription your staff has sent me has nothing on it. What doesn't make sense to me is the file attached is viewable, so there was enough time to foresee the error. This seems to me like it's more than a common oversight error on your staff's part. What irks me about this is, there's a chance I could be friends with this clerk and her bf, but they also know my full name, date of birth, and where I live based on my ID. Regardless of what you look like, you'd be surprised how far you can get by simply keeping yourself clean and neat looking, have the ability to make someone laugh, and be really good with kids.

Those are/were the only real attributes I had when I was single, and it got me more attention that I ever deserved.

Will having really bad acne scars make it more difficult to achieve that clean and neat look? Ideally I'd like to keep myself clean and neat looking, but those nasty pimples and scars on my face make me look sort of greasy.

Is there a method/trick into doing this? IE. imagining everyone naked. Every time I make an attempt to remove expectations and not care, that feeling seems to come back even stronger.

You're probably carrying yourself in a way that makes people uncomfortable, even if you are as ugly as you claim. People don't know how to react in general, and most people are just indifferent to other people in general.

I have bad teeth so I do awkward closed smiles. I also have acne scars that don't look easy on the eyes so I'm always looking down. I mean I'm polite and I do greet everybody that I encounter, but I'm sure my body posture could use a lot of work.

Just don't care. You'll probably never see her again after after classes/college/whatever. If you get some sort of group work style stuff with her, just do the work and be honest if she spite sabotages.

It sounds harsh but she'll probably be wholly inconsequential to your life and you'll likely be done interacting with her after the classes. If it's a nothing argument it'll blow over, if not, oh well.
