there's some sort of "only the tip of the iceberg" meme template that basically starts with commonly-known stuff but then moves deeper down to weirder/obscure stuff
you'll see this kind of stuff with a game like mario 64: the top has stuff like the "L is real" sign, speedrun tech, and odd details in the world building; and then as you get lower it becomes a bunch of creepypasta and fan theory shit

it's equivalent to how tvtropes will always have those people who use the ymmv page to vent or share their dumb theory but will phrase it as "some people" to fake some legitimacy

not at all, and the notion that they are is pretty stupid
most of them are too simple and too easy, and just throwing in action commands or some convoluted "hit the weakness" system doesn't really do much to make them more complex or anything, despite what people will say

i just want these games to have encounters dangerous enough to justify using and experimenting with the options in my toolkit. grandia has a great battle system but there's very little decision-making when you can just do the same stuff every time. mario rpgs have timing as a mechanic and while it can be fun, there isn't enough variety to the attacks you dodge and sometimes the games can feel like they drag on a bit due to them

the only remotely interesting addition are the postgame fights, which will probably be too easy

don't care to dump $60 on what's basically the same experience in a shiny coat of paint

funny that people still think that a ten is literally a perfect score

probably star ocean 2 since i never played it. the rest of the series sucks but people insist this is the good one

mario rpg is a fine game but it's super short and easy and the remake gives me absolutely no reason to spend $60 on what's essentially an untouched experience of a game i don't really care for

mario rpg is pretty worthless for me since it barely changes any of the gameplay and it's a very short game and not really worth buying again

i'm hesitant on star ocean 2 because 1, 3, and 4 were varying degrees of bad. but people universally refer to 2 as the one good game in the series

I know that OW2 was supposed to have a story mode or such but it was unceremoniously cancelled despite that being the biggest selling point for OW2

it still has the missions, they just dropped all the ability tree stuff
the pve was never good so i'm honestly surprised people wanted it so badly, it was at absolute best a novelty you would mess with once and then forget about

the older versions of heroes? the universally-loathed 2 cp in standard matchmaking?

a boring open world game with a pathetic world that's not interesting to traverse. no multiplayer means you're stuck fighting the joke-tier enemy encounters so battling is pretty unsatisfying and unvaried. being able to throw pokeballs at pokemon is neat for like two minutes until you realize there's barely any variety to anything you do

the barebones satisfaction of collecting for the sake of it still exists i guess

the weird grunting samples were annoying

just draw numbers from rng. the series is incredibly easy so you can pick whatever pokemon you want

super overhated, people seem to just want everything to be permanent with no concept of relegation

ng+ is usually pretty bad, especially when a lot of content is gated behind the very end of a ng+ run and you can't easily skip anything

ng+ almost always just appeals to those who like seeing big numbers and literally nothing else. the tales series at least lets you have some modifiers to spice up a second run but it's usually not enough

i think they're endearing but they're pretty annoying to play and really easy thanks to broken mechanics

if it's one of those "remakes" that are actually just retoolings of the entire game, sure
if it's just a port with higher resolution then i won't care

the dreamcast version is pathetic compared to every other version, including the gamecube rereleases. i have a soft spot for pso but the original has nothing to do

e gameplay suits the quick pace, it's responsive, crisp, satisfying.

these are not the words i'd use to describe secret of mana. the 3d remake of secret of mana plays about as sloppily as the original but with bad performance, crashing, and questionable remixes. it's still the same top-down experience in the end. i think yiou're thinking of trials's remake or something because secret's remake barely changes anything

exploration is fine. magic is overpowered and promotes blind spamming and unavoidable boss attacks, hitboxes suck, and having to slowly wait to attack again makes every fight needlessly slow

secret of mana has very good visuals and great music, but the gameplay sucks

multiplayer and the sheer novelty of the game isn't quite enough to consider it anything better than mediocre

ai usually can't deal with offense in games

humans are usually super impatient and can't deal with defensive play, especially in fighting games where you can basically win by tilting the opponent

basically all of them

it had a lot of good games but most of the stuff i care about can get played on other things. i do want to see pso on consoles again, but i feel like sega would add all the bad parts of the sequel onto it. the power stone games and chu chu rocket are basically the only other games i care about

skies of arcadia is cute but the actual combat kinda sucks. grandia 2 has an amazing battle system but the low difficulty undermines it and you can't skip animations. writing is fun but it loses steam hard in the second half and the voice acting starts to deteriorate a lot too

where the fuck is the modern midway classics so i can play hydro thunder, gauntlet legends, and rush

usually the hardest. locking hard modes out of a first run is a horrible decision too many games make

i legitimately thought sarah's voice was an intended joke in her first appearance. but no, her acting was just that bad and some of the very worst i've ever heard in anything

it really is. i somehow got tricked by people saying it's "one of the good star ocean games"

as far as i know, the second game is the only one that's considered good by the playerbase as a whole. 4 was awful

ocd is one of those things nobody takes seriously, and a big reason why is the flippant misuse of the word

pizza is usually good

lasagna can be great but can have shit like ricotta cheese that completely ruins it

combat is whatever because smt combat is whatever and easy if you know what you're doing

the series always had level scaling but it feels particularly bad in this game. performance is awful and the writing sucks but exploration is mostly fun

puyo actually always has this but a vast majority of games want you to go through the agony of unlocking everything

it's not like they made classic mode actually fun to play. while i appreciate having themed routes, the lack of variety and having to start on a pitiful difficulty really makes the mode super boring

i don't think there's a single tales game that doesn't crap out near the end

unlocking characters fucking sucks but some people really like having content for the sake of content

there are better ways to add content, like introducing a classic mode that's purely random and doesn't start at piss-easy difficulties, reintroducing the original all-star mode, adding back coin battle, making wol not just a contextualized spirit board, make spirits more varied in utility, etc

it's kind of weird that smash of all games somehow manages to be lacking in content in areas even when it has so much of it

i wish they added a hard mode

very whelmed. f-zero 99 gives hopium of the series getting attention and mario vs dk is cool even if it's another remake. peach game is cool but i don't care enough about the rpgs to care that they're being remastered but it's cool to see a game no longer stuck on gamecube

i watch a streamer who loves mario rpg but whines about remakes and "casualization" so it'd be fun to see his awful opinions this time. i do wonder if triple techs or aoe basic attacks have any negative gameplay repercussions though

it was a fun show but i think it got a fair bit worse at the end and i really didn't like the addition of the third love interest. i think it got annoyingly meta and a lot of the songs were lame in the final episodes (like the first link in the op)

still fun overall, but i immediately knew how it was going to end because of course she picks none of them and i'm surprised they even attempted a third love interest

there was never any challenge

pve sucks which is to be expected, but they didn't even have the talents which was basically the only thing that gave it any chance of being good

nah dude that shit takes forever. i play the game super casually almost every other day and it takes a fucking eternity to get shit on the battle pass. it might be less shit than other battle passes but it's still pretty damn bad

The community that actually does play and enjoy OverWatch all agree that the game has been really healthy and hasn't had a dominant meta.

the game has had hero dominance a lot but blizzard is at least a lot quicker to nerf things hard. it thankfully never had like goats, triple tank, mercy meta, or double shield. at worst they have some tanks be too dominant for a bit too long or sombra being miserable to fight

does one less player per team and no 2cp (a universally hated mode) really outweigh the new maps, heroes, and modes? honest question, i just play super casually. having to upgrade your battle pass to use content you've already unlocked is super stupid and ruins any sense of progression
