i'm not totally trying to single out golden sun.
the number of jrpgs with writing that stands up to any real critique is probably in the single-digits

i'd say 95% of them are some combination of wholly unqualified, in need of a visa/sponsorship, and/or bot spam. the sheer number is still dizzying, though. i guess since it's a fully remote position instead of hybrid/on-site. this is easily 3-4x what the latter would get.

i guess people wanna work at home even more than i thought >_> and then you combine that with the people hoping to make USD in a foreign country with a favorable exchange rate and then the applications really go off the rails

Conversation would not have worked for Golden Sun. Just words will not change tradition of Vale. They would have needed to see what was happening in Prox like Felix to even think of thinking it was a good idea to light the lighthouses. Hell even with the knowledge, a lot of residences of Vale would probably have rebuked of the idea anyways. Hell you can see this in real life with covid.

"the antagonists actually have good intentions but have chosen to be murderous psychopaths along the way for no reason" is such nonsense but alas it's pretty much trope-status in these genres/mediums
