TC, you didnt answer the questions that I asked here. Didn't see, sorry. Your comment about democrats not saving GOP from their own screwups I assume is about McCarthy getting removed? I still disagree about that. McCarthy was pushing a moderate stance when extremists revolted against him. Partisan politics is the only reason he was removed. If democrats cared more about their country they would have voted to keep him in. They knew full well it would be weeks of gridlock and now a more right-leaning speaker is in place. All dems had to do was side with the country and not party. But, they wanted to kneecap the GOP. Doesn't make them better in my mind, sorry. I'm not saying, once again, republicans are the "good" party. Both play their games. But there is a lot of blind love for democrats I don't understand. Both parties are, in some ways arguably, abusers of this country. Extremist republicans are the "physical" abusers--removing physical rights or intimidating minorities. But democrats are the emotional abusers. They are very much the party of censorship and doxxing. I think there's a lot of nuance here for interpretation and disagreement but generally I'm reasonably certain that most of the media does in fact lean left, whereas fox news just leans very, very right. Even MSM like CBS at the national level, by virtue of their reporting, I view as essentially left. Which is 100% why they were collectively mad about Elon buying twitter--stiffling conservative voice is a key element of the democratic platform. I imagine many of you will disagree, but....just look at what's been done to him/twitter incessantly since he purchased it. Elon...."liked" a post...about someone posting an opinion....and it just became a vehicle for more rebellion against him. The phrasing around this as well is highly inflammatory. e.g., CNN: https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/17/business/elon-musk-reveals-his-actual-truth/index.html Media has a highly inflammatory reaction to anything that goes against their platform. To be clear I'm not even staking a position here, I'm just pointing out an example of an attempt to censor opinions that come from a rightward view. When you remove the ability to express opinions without consequence you're an abuser--the MO of the left. Trump and biden, regardless of age, cannot be compared. Unfortunately I was suspended by someone who is not a doctor when I gave a medical opinion of Biden. So I do not see trump and biden as the same even if age is the same, but cannot comment further. How is Haley not moderate? She is okay with states having abortion rights and supports both ukraine AND israel and champions diplomacy. What is your point of just attaching her name to trump? Seriously. What is the reason? --- Administrative Bureaucrat |

The complete lack of basic awareness to make this post. Enough about me. Out of curiosity, what is it you do for a living? What is your socioeconomic background? I'm trying to figure out how you are molded to believe the things you say. I've been transparent enough about myself. Looking over your posts, you seem to be an extrinsic mindset kind of person, versus myself as intrinsic. e.g., I get the sense your general attitude towards life is things happen to you and you react. Myself, I am very intrisic--I make the outcome I want happen. At first glance this is similar but leads to very different outcomes, a concept well studied. My new goal is to be chief medical officer of a major insurance company. I'm going to make that happen despite no connection to the industry whatsoever. I'm doing all the research on this I can and have already taken a major career shift for this outcome. This result will be regardless of how many silver spoons I hold-it is the outcome I seek. --- Administrative Bureaucrat |

Right. An example of privilege Being an electrician--a job you get by trade school/apprenticeship by just applying and handing over 300ish bucks and can mature into an entire career if desired and is absolutely not competitive whatsoever--is privilege I just want you to think about that god damn, that's a powerful disconnect I can't even argue. So anyone with any job is privilege? I'm not sure how much you know about being an electrician but it's not a road to wealth. It feels like your viewpoint everyone is either unemployed or millionaires. I guess this is a point I'm just going to digress. Feel free to label me a child of privilege if that empowers you so. I've fallen out of contact with everyone I worked with but they'd have massive, massive belly laughs if they knew someone thought I was living a privileged life back then. --- Administrative Bureaucrat |

I dont know what to tell you. My father had a trade job. I did his job. Then I did it full time working for a university for the tuition benefits. Somebody who is younger and more in tune with the market can chime in but 20 years ago it was pretty easy to be an electrician. You just...talked to one. I am an example of what happens if you really want something and you can make it happen. That's why I harp on accountability so much and bemoan anyone asking for handouts. So because youve become jaded and cynical by facing the realities of humanity - a fact which you should have been prepared for knowing you were going into medicine One of the very few posts in this topic that nearly got to me. It is literally not possible to know what medicine is until you do it. Especially under private equity. No amount of shadowing or "I have a friend"isms or 'I worked as a tech once" could ever give you the insight of an attending physician at a major center under economic and medical collapse. The experience is bad enough I know the doctors in Gaza will need therapy for the rest of their lives. No physician on earth has ever had to practice like that, to my knowledge anyway I assume you are not a doctor (non-dermatologist) DrizztLink posted... Weirdly enough, I know all kinds of doctors who haven't apparently turned themselves into sociopathic morons as a survival mechanism. People hide illness well. No one in the group I worked in actively ran around telling people they weren't okay. But coincident to this the divorce rate was 70%? Drug and alcohol addiction was endemic and the ones that weren't divorced were just fucking nurses* None of this suggests a healthy mind. *There were definitely a few (like less than 10%) that didn't seem to be involved in any of this. What happened with roe v Wade thanks to conservatives again? Roe v wade was never a permanent solution. It was like the sort-of-statehood like Taiwan, just hanging in the breeze until pushed. Long term even democrats agree it was good, at least anyone with a mind for strategy. They won't say it out in the open for obvious reasons. But think about it: look at what has happened already. Abortion is now constitutionally protected in several states. As obstetric Healthcare dwindles in banned states (with a specific eye towards places like idaho) even the backers of the ban are starting to see the consequences. 1/5 of registered Republicans in ohio voted for issue 1. That's a powerful statement. Even the state legislature is spewing nonsense while still coming to terms with reality. The long term consequence is a social shift in the republican moderate wing and likely an ejection of Maga in the distant future. I acknowledge there are short term pains for many but this transition was never calculated by either side to be painless. Unless you have a better (AND WORKABLE) solution? No federal law would yet have support so don't mention that. megamanfreakXD posted... dont bother. I accepted the fact that people wont truly understand unless they work in the field. Over time you realize...world wasn't quite what you thought it was, especially with the right exposure. Fresh out of med school, one of the first attending I worked with did a thing that didn't really make sense until much later. We had a really, really bad case. Made worse by a patient parent being intentionally deceptive and it resulted in his infant dying horrifically and needlessly. Afterward he gave me a post-it note for my notebook. He wrote on it, "nightingaleMD's soul." Then he tore off a small piece and gave me the rest. He told me every time something like this happens he's going to take another piece from me until I have "nothing left." It was dark humor but it had a point. They knew what they were doing. [LFAQs-redacted-quote] You've never answered my question so its hard to communicate with you about this. I'll try again. WHERE IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY? Seriously. No sarcasm at all. So a 17 or 18 year old doesn't understand loans. Not their fault. Arguable, though there is a slight point that an 18 year old is an adult. But its inexcusable to not fault the parents co signing loans. No 18 year old doesn't have a co signer. Let me ask you the question differently: If I don't understand the terms of my mortgage, do I get my house for free? Will government just buy me a car if I don't understand car payments? Why is there such an exception for loans where ignorance is considered a valid excuse? I'm not going to disagree there are for-profit incentives with the industry. But society is fundamentally for profit. Very little business is charity business and for the nth time, college isn't mandatory. Explain with data, how they would be doing that Ended up with more time than I thought tonight. This would have to be piecemealed by topic, as I simply don't care enough to put the time into hours of individual topics all at once. Again, neither party is perfect. I will preface this. But I dislike democratic ideology more. Affirmative action https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/07/14/ private-selective-colleges-are-most-likely-to-use-race-ethnicity -as-a-factor-in-admissions-decisions/ Democratic support for affirmative action is something I disagree with. It disenfranchises high performing ethnicities (I am ~not~ asian, btw) and enforces diversity for the sake of diversity rather than individual merits. This is a purely philosophical approach, if you feel 25% of the university of michigan "should be black" I guess we just have to disagree. Which, if you could believe in etiquette and discourse, is appropriate. Personally I feel, and this should be a recurring theme by now to anyone reading, in personal accountability. Relying on history or color of skin, regardless of validity, is a crutch I would never be proud of. How does it relate to destroying this country? By deliberately separating people by ethnicity and pitting people, indirectly, against each other not on what's inside but by factors beyond control. This stirs division, in my opinion. It largely exists due to democratic support: https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2023/06/08/ demographic-and-partisan-views-about-race-and -ethnicity-in-college-admissions/ You'll also see it skews towards support of younger individuals and less of older. This will be, to be clear, a recurring theme of republican vs democratic principles: age reflecting political opinions. I've personally experienced this. I was insanely passionate about voting democratic when I was 18. Wanted all the handouts since I was super fucking poor and wanted to tax the rich to give all their money to me. That extends to the topic at hand, as I definitely had zero dollars for college. Med school was my ONLY loan, btw. I worked full-time to pay for undergrad which delayed graduation by 3 years. Didn't take a single loan or get money from my parents. I had a 10%-ish scholarship to where I wanted to go but needed cash to cover the balance. But med school is so expensive I didn't even try. Why is college mandatory? Why is there no personal accountability for decision-making? Personal responsibility is a valuable trait, one instilled in me from childhood. I'm accountable for all my decisions. Even with student loans. Before ever taking them out I sat and did loooooots of research. I knew full well this was going to be hundreds of thousands of dollars but estimated--correctly--it was payable. Why are others incapable? And why is the government now responsible for their bad decisions?
Doesn't seem relevant to anything discussed here--by any stretch of any interpretation of anything I've said-- but okay
No to castes, yes to accountability as mentioned above. No one ~has~ to go to college. There are great six figure trade jobs. Money from that can shunt into college if the student who cannot afford it later wishes to attend. You keep speaking like there is zero accountability to the borrower. That is a fundamental political difference as well, I think. Democrats have zero concern in my mind--financially or personally--for accountability. --- Administrative Bureaucrat |

I've been nothing but polite and attempting to justify or reason through my views. Anyone that disagrees should re-read the entire topic. It's largely vitriol and hate, and purely one-sided. This is another fundamental problem I have with the democratic party, one that is evident from this topic: complete cognitive dissonance from their own complaints. The party as a whole is wildly, wildly intolerant of ideas that are not their own. Not that republicans are much better-or hey, better at all-- but the lack of recognition of their own intolerance while preaching tolerance is staggering. It extends far beyond this website. This is just a symptom and an expected result. Still, I try to wait for anyone willing to debate with substance. Always willing. Destruction is from both parties. Why, tell me, did democrats vote in unison to oust mccarthy? And really, think about it before replying. But I'll give you a good answer. They don't want to see the rise of the moderate republican. They gave other reasons, including a recent interview, but really they were just as interested in kneecapping this country as the MAGA wing. Got it down to the last chunk and just paid it off. Not bad, considering it was a 5 year refinance through SoFi that I paid off in just over 4. If you see the disbursement date you'll notice I foolishly could have waited for the world to end a few months later and not refinanced. I ran some numbers and realized I ended up paying nearly 25k more by refinancing but I wasn't exactly expecting a pandemic to pause interest rates. The whole situation sucks for everyone but I haven't heard a viable, long term solution from either the left or right. And in lieu of that, entire populations disappear. Sad. --- Administrative Bureaucrat |

Apologies I didn't know quite frankly most people don't CPR should be illegal for anyone over 80 for this reason I've never seen anyone over that age survive compressions > 5 minutes It's a nuance the public doesn't know. I don't have OP's dad's chart in front of me but pneumonia + CPR with that many broken ribs is a long road for recovery for even the healthy folk. Rough times. --- Administrative Bureaucrat |

Didn't they just raise the minimum wage for healthcare workers up to $25-30 in some parts of the states? horrible take horrible comparison I want to be nice but this post is seething with so much ignorance I don't know where to start. You can't do awful things long term for money You can kick people out of a store. You can't easily kick people out of a hospital. Being called an "oily salesman" is mild compared to the verbal and physical abuse my nurses would endure. Some sites were better, the major trauma site was worse. Mostly drunk belligerent homeless cursing and masturbating. One nurse there told me about one in four patients would attempt to grope her. Is that worth $30 an hour? Please stop talking about things you clearly know nothing about maybe move on to telling airline pilots how to fly planes or something else you're equally unqualified to have an opinion of --- Administrative Bureaucrat |

until I put them on a ventilator at least two people asked me if they could have a vaccine before they were intubated, one later died. One of many reasons I walked away from clinical practice: the worst part of medicine, any doctor will tell you, is the patients. --- Administrative Bureaucrat |

What motherfucking context justifies the murder of this many children? Or any really? I don't know about justifies, but context of Hamas deliberately hiding operations among civilians vs Ukraine keeping weapons out of things like hospitals probably has a lot to do with this. Hamas is literally using children as human shields. It's an impossible enemy to fight without killing civilians. No-win. --- Administrative Bureaucrat |
