That is not an on/off switch. It's an interrupt. That's like calling your circuit breaker a bunch of on/off switches.
Are you sure we're talking about the same thing? I'm not talking about switches with test/rest switches and a circuit breaker like you might find in a bathroom. I'm talking about ones with a fully manual switch similar to a light switch.

I had all four taken out, with local anaesthetic + IV sedation (remifentanil and propofol)
It was pretty straightforward. The procedure itself I only remember little bits of it, and I don't remember having any pain. I'd recommend doing it this way, rather than opting for a full general anaesthetic.

If you're a badass you can get it under local without sedation, but most of the oral surgeons seem to prefer doing it with sedation, especially if it's more than one.

The pain afterwards was quite achey and stiff, but not terrible. I just made sure I was really consistent about taking paracetamol + ibuprofen 4 times a day every day, and some days I needed to take a 50mg tramadol once or twice. Pain started to improve around day 3 or 4 I think.

Depends where you are in the world.

Here in NZ we've got in most cities:
  • Paper, glass and aluminium - generally it's agreed that these are a good idea. It does all get recycled
  • Plastics with grade 1, 2 or 5 (PET, HDPE or PP) - because these are the ones we can actually make sure get recycled
Most other plastic grades are being slowly banned from use in food or consumer goods:

PS3 had quite a few weird issues like this. It felt like they got overconfident after PS2 and just spent the entire generation playing catch up to Xbox 360.

Trophies were tacked on in a later update and never felt smooth even at the end of the lifecycle.
Cloud saves were poorly implemented and behind the PSN paywall.
No way to change your username without losing all your digital purchases
Backwards compatibility that they gave up on after like 1 year

If you don't care AT ALL about star wars you might find it hard to get into it, but it is a very good game. I'd put it above Dragon Age and roughly on par with Mass Effect 1 - aside from ME1's world building.

The second one is even better in some ways, but I think mostly only if you care about Star Wars a little bit.

There is a solution that provides a perfect middle ground to this though, and that's to not have dedicated energy cards and let any card in your deck be used as energy of its color instead of using it as a normal card. You'll never be unable to take action due to drawing too little or too much energy, and although not drawing enough of a certain color in a multi-color deck could still be an issue sometimes, it would be far less common.
Duel Masters worked this way, and it was great

Yeah I'd noticed "hand traps" like dimension shifter, ash blossom, droll & lock. Feels like a boring way to have to build a deck but I guess it is what it is.

So I'm trying to dip my toes back into YGO after more than 10 years away by playing Master Duel, and I'm finding the pace of the game absolutely hectic compared to when I left. The power creep makes it so, so hard to grasp what is going on.

Basically every duel feels like it's over by turn 2 or 3 and it seems there's no way to make a viable deck that doesn't rely heavily on one or more of XYZ, Link, Synchro or Pendulum monsters.

I'm slowly working my way through the solo duels/tutorials. Has anybody got advice on how to get my head around the game, or simple decks that can at least survive a few turns? I haven't really gone and tried to build a deck yet.

The decks I used to enjoy in the late 2000s-era (when I was playing on DS) included:
  • Macro cosmos/monarchs
  • Equip decks with Ben Kei, Maha Vailo etc
  • Trap-heavy control decks with lots of removal or direct damage (e.g. magic cylinder)
  • Exodia decks, but mostly for the memes.

Thing is GG was basically sorted into 4 parts, 3 being bad and 1 being good (the movement's lone claim to legitimacy).

25% guys trying to smear developers they had a grudge with, misogynists, 4chan psychos, etc.
25% alt-right grifters like Adam Baldwin and Milo Yiannopolous who wanted to take down SJWs.
25% people fooled by the aforementioned groups.

But the last 25% was just people who didn't like how the gaming media dropped like 16 articles in one day in response saying "gamers are dead" and that devs shouldn't pay attention to hardcore gamers anymore because gaming was now mainstream. These media outlets were all thought to be independent beforehand but were exposed as colluding behind the scenes in private chats to protect their own, and willing to throw their audience under the bus to do so.
Nah this ain't if, chief. Every interaction I had with people claiming to be from group 4 had *very significant* overlap with behaviour that would put them in at least one of the other 3 groups. I don't think I accept them as anything close to 25%.

In roughly my order of priority:

Ace Attorney (basically all of them)
Return of the Obra Dinn
Ghost Trick
Her Story
Case of the Golden Idol
Chinatown Detective agency (this one expects you to look things up IRL outside the game to find solutions)
Murder By Numbers
Contradiction: Spot The Liar (an FMV game)
Hotel Dusk
Danganronpa
Heavy Rain
What Remains of Edith Finch
Hypnospace Outlaw (might not feel like it initially, but it gets there)
Paradise Killer
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
The Sinking City
Tangle Tower

I would say Outer Wilds scratches the same mystery itch, although it's not a mystery/detective game as such

The Professor Layton games kind of have some energy of this too, but are very puzzle heavy.

The fact that he right swiped 96% of the time is the problem. You understand that, right? It's well known that Tinder will actually lower the visibility of your profile (aka you won't show up when women are swiping) if you just swipe right one everyone.

That should be the real takeaway from these comparisons. You must be choosy, or the app will punish your account and you'll get less matches anyway. But if you're selective, the apps will start showing you women that fit your tastes.

This has always been my read on it. Going on tinder and swiping right on everything within sight is not a recipe for success. It's basically spambot behaviour. Engage with the app on appropriate terms and then complain about the stats (which are probably still pretty unfavourable, but not like this.)
