Kind of

Lords are for life, appointed with no public vote and are immensely corrupt

Lords can't actually create laws, they just view laws that the government made and alter them. It's basically rich old white men ensuring that no law can possibly pass without their approval.

A complete kick in the balls to democracy and something the UK should be endlessly ashamed of.

This is deeply false. The House of Lords can introduce laws, just like the House of Commons can.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/legislative-process-taking-a-bill-through-parliament:
Most bills can begin either in the House of Commons or in the House of Lords. The government will make this decision based on the need to make sure each House has a balanced programme of legislation to consider each session. However, certain bills must start in the Commons, such as a bill whose main aim is the imposition of taxation (the annual Finance bill is an example of this).

There certainly is corruption but that generally isnt one of the forms it takes. Why do you dislike the idea of it so much?

Because it more easily allows prejudice, and discrimination to permeate. If your previous boss is, say sexist, or racist, or plain just doesn't like you (or you didn't contribute to their 50th birthday present [corruption]) -- why should they be allowed to have any ability to effect your future employment?
Better for a faceless HR, to just confirm how long you've worked somewhere, less chance of such things occurring.

I know, but still kind of amazing the series never delved more into it. Or even really questions what Tien even is in canon.

Tropes are often used in storytelling for that exact reason, they don't need to be explained, or steps can be skipped.
It's why the sentence "She took the single red rose, sprayed it with hairspray, and touched a flame to it while whispering "bastard", tells a whole story and works in modern Western media, because of the tropes, and certain things can be missing from the sentence and it still paints a picture and a story.
In other times, say before the Greek age, Middle age and Victorian age cemented a rose (especially the Victorian age with it's "Language of flowers" as a symbol of love/longing) the story wouldn't make nearly as much sense.

A couple of these mentioned, might not be due to the setting, or lore thereof, but more the translation from Japanese to English.

Tales of Arise, and Xenoblade 3 are originally in Japanese, and it's the translators who translated the lines of "Ace up their sleeve" from Japanese. "Ace up their sleeve" probably flows better than a literal translation, and the Japanese it's translated from, might make sense Lore-wise.

I wish we could harness this level of backpedaling to generate renewable energy.

We can't include Gang-related stuff in statistics with men, JUST BECAUSE (although with the caveats below, we can include it or not, it doesn't make a difference).

Then we can't include men who attack shorter men, because that doesn't coincide with our worldview, or men who attack men bigger than themselves because it's clearly an ego issue, or men who attack men the same size as themselves as that's clearly an opportunist thing. We can't include any women who attack men, because... it's clearly a patriarchal issue.

Therefore men who get attacked at night is literally ZERO (0). There Done.

It's not illegal in the UK (even marriage is legal) [First cousins can marry, and have merriment], so I dunno where you got your graphic from, but it's incorrect:
https://metro.co.uk/2018/08/01/can-marry-cousin-uk-family-members-illegal-marry-7785320/

Neither is it illegal in all US States, for example in Rhode island:
"No person shall marry his or her sibling, parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, stepparent, grandparents' spouse, spouse's child, spouse's grandchild, sibling's child or parent's sibling.
