I disagree. We've never given people leeway to ask others to empathize with bigots, defending bigotry in any way has no place here.

At no point did i defend bigotry.

Understanding someone's motivations is not the same as tolerating them nor is it defending them.

We understand that racists, for example, are usually lowly educated people who were never taught critical thinking skills and have been fed a steady diet of propaganda scapegoating minorities for all the hardships these people endure as a result of the upper class preying upon them. That doesn't excuse their bigotry, and it certainly doesn't mean we have to tolerate their racism.

What do you think?

I never ever do microtransactions or season passes but i paid an extra $20 for Diablo IV early access and $30 for Starfield

pound for pound its a good ROI for me. I could spend Saturday night at a bar and drop $70 for a hangover
Or $30 for a long weekend of entertainment in videogame space. It helps that im also pre paying for the first dlc

On the other hand, it creates an incentive to add arbitrary 1 week delays to games and is probably a bummer for folks who are excited for the game but cant drop extra money

So

Its not a great practice but i'll probably keep participating for high profile games

But also i think we're taking it as a foregone conclusion that we still need as many full time writers and actors as we currently have

It's going to happen in other industries too - things have gotten more efficient and the nature of the work is changing.

I support the decision to strike, but it wouldnt shock or anger me if they were ultimately unsuccessful.

Why do people like OP have to ruin the discourse around serious issues?

If police accountability is something you genuinely care about, don't frame it as something that has zero nuance or caveats.

Starting the conversation with the suggestion that there are zero scenarios where a police officer is justified in killing someone in self defense is just poisoning your own well.

Find a realistic grown up position if you want to actually influence anyone's opinions.

Its a fair criticism to say that this is only likely to be accurate for a specific, narrowly defined portion of the homeless population. It would be silly to write it off because of that, though. Perfect being the enemy of good and all that, it remains a simple way to help a large amount of people.

Agreed

The severe drug addicts need a different kind of help, which we should also provide if whatever city has the resources to do so

I think sometimes there's a resistance to segmenting the homeless folk in a way that is counter productive and it's a bummer

So i guess my tldr is:
This is a good unsurprising result
I dont think we should sweep the screening restrictions under the rug, but recognize that its ok to help those who can be helped this way and spend money differently for people who cant

Our preregistered screening criteria were: age 19 to 65, homeless for less than 2 y (homelessness defined as the lack of stable housing), Canadian citizen or permanent resident, and nonsevere levels of substance use (DAST-10) (21), alcohol use (AUDIT) (22), and mental health symptoms

But of course, that's not realistic.

Anyways, expect it to be in the high 80s, but I don't think it'll break 90.
Too much hype that just can't be met and will inevitably leave some reviewers disappointed/let down.
