It really depends if you're thinking more about the actual impacts, or the underlying intent. Hamas wanting to commit genocide of Israelis is pretty well established; as is Israel (as in the govt / military, not citizens) wanting to do the same of Palestinians. If Hamas had the means to go bigger on Oct 7th, anyone who thinks they wouldn't have done so is delusional. I'm not interested in arguing hypothetical situations that require wildly different material conditions. There's no point in saying "well yeah if instead Hamas had the air force and army and nukes and international support and... then I'm confident it would have been the other way around." --- i cant get off unless we're violating at least four OSHA regulations |

Hamas definitely killed (and captured) a lot of civilians; even if it is true that IDF killed a lot of Israeli civilians too. They did. However, that does not make Oct 7 genocidal, as was the initial claim. It is not reasonable to roll up the deaths of citizen killed by Israel and the deaths of Israeli soldiers/police with those civilians kidnapped/killed by Hamas. --- i cant get off unless we're violating at least four OSHA regulations |
