I dunno man... it's possible that I'm living in a bubble but mid 30s seems... pedestrian slow... like you can take anyone off the street and they can make that time. I run 5ks on the regular for boxing and I have to be REALLY slacking off/borderline walking on my run to hit anywhere near the 30 minute mark. I feel like I would literally have to walk half the distance to get 35 mins. We've got about 5 amateur heavyweights at our gym who are 230+ and they can all run 5ks in the 25-28 min range and these guys are far from athletic. Hell, a few of them look flat out obese and can definitely move down a weight class or two. Yeah but youre seeing bigger guys who are in an athetlic activity. You gotta think. I doubt half of the people You see on the streets can even run a 9 minute mile...and definitely not 3 12 minutes miles. But Im 62 and 255...which is sadly the heaviest Ive ever been. Yet I can run a 5k in about 34-36 minutes(includes some walking in there) Is it possibible to be fat but still athletic? No right?
