Anyone living in Puerto Rico who's having to deal with Trump's temper tantrums and threats to pull out FEMA aid, anyone who's at risk of losing a job if Trump succeeds in tanking NAFTA, anyone who is struggling to buy health insurance thanks to Trump destabilizing the system, anyone who is a Dreamer, and any taxpayer who is watching their tax money get misspent by the clowns Trump has elevated to high positions are being negatively affected by this president, just off the top of my head.

Aside from none of this negatively affecting YOU, which is what I was asking, every thing you said is your emotional interpretation of your somewhat warped view things

1. Puerto Rico - FEMA pulling out - Hasn't happened
2. Tanking NAFTA and people losing jobs - Hasn't happened
3. Health Insurance - Obamacare is a job killing disaster and not affordable at all.
3. Dreamers = See illegal immigration
4.Tax Money - He wantss less goverment spending and lower taxes.

Except, you know, when they cant. One would think the litany of bakeries that have been sued, and lost from denying service to gays would have cemented this very basic fact in your mind.

https://www.legalzoom.com/articles/the-right-to-refuse-service-can-a-business-refuse-service-to-someone-because-of-appearance

At the heart of the debate is a system of anti-discrimination laws enacted by federal, state and local governments. The entire United States is covered by the Federal Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination by privately owned places of public accommodation on the basis of race, color, religion or national origin. Places of public accommodation include hotels, restaurants, theaters, banks, health clubs and stores. Nonprofit organizations such as churches are generally exempt from the law.

The right of public accommodation is also guaranteed to disabled citizens under the Americans with Disabilities Act, which prohibits discrimination by private businesses based on disability.

The federal law does not prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation, so gays are not a protected group under the federal law. However, about 20 states, including New York and California, have enacted laws that prohibit discrimination in public accommodations based on sexual orientation. In California, you also cant discriminate based on someones unconventional dress.

Sexual orientation isnt a federal mandate, yet. However it will become one with time. And 40% of states already cover it.

Businesses are not a free for all allowed to do whatever they want. Thats exactly what consumer protections are.

Im not over complicating anything. Youre being ignorant is all.

Also, his intention to make the US a country that businesses WANT to be based out of is massive benefit. Up until this past election, more and more corporations were leaving the US to go countries that offer more favorable tax rates and fewer regulations. If he gets tax reform, we'll see the benefits on a much larger scale.....Which brings us to the virtually unprecedented growth in the stock market immediately following the election. Almost everyone with any kind of money invested anywhere is benefiting as result of the policies the president is advocating.

As for the former, you're judging both on the values of today at a time when slave ownership was the norm among wealthy US citizens.

And yet Thomas Jefferson hypocritically railed against the evils of slavery and abolitionist movements existed. I can judge it against the standards of the time and still call them horrible.

There was a reason why Jefferson used the phrase "wolf by the ears" many times when referring to slavery.

Wolf by the ears means that while inherently wrong, slaves (or wolves) could not simply be let go, or they would turn and destroy their masters (once freed), as well as the economic health of the country..which was largely agricultural at the time.

Even admitting that slavery was wrong, it could not simply be abolished instantaneously. The economic, and social consequences would've been too destructive. Given the era, and the economics of his time, slavery was somewhat of necessary evil. Basically it was justice vs self preservation. We've come a long way since.

Relationships can be lost by lack of money, good health requires the cash to buy healthy ingredients and you need money to go do stuff so money is the root of all happiness.

This does not happen in the US. Refugees are the most strongly vetted immigrants we have.

What an ignorant and generalized statement.

What? No, it is literally not possible to be educated on the US refugee system and to be against it for economic reasons. You could be against it because it's somewhat exploitative (even though it's a benefit to the refugees still) or because you're racist or xenophobic (which aren't valid reasons), but you can't be against it economically. There aren't two sides to this issue. There's just the truth.

This.. No matter how strict guns laws are, a criminal will circumvent them. Tougher gun laws are only "security theater" and would do little to actually keep guns out the hands murderers.

Congratulations to both of you on being demonstrably wrong. It is well documented from watching every other country that has regulated firearms that it makes them harder to get. This same argument is just as stupid put into any other context. Yes, stupid. We aren't going to mince words and pretend that there is any merit to this idea.

It's not demonstrably wrong if it's true. Areas with the toughest gun laws have higher rates of violent crimes using guns. In what fantasy world would a hardened criminal, would be killer go through a legal channel to buy a gun?
