One of my agents got a call from someone asking if they were being bombed right as this all started. Granted, it's not that we'd have any clue since Virginia is quite separated from Hawaii, but still. If alarms are going off and you have a ballistic missile threat going on, why is your first inclination to call tech support when you think you're about to be vaporized?

Especially when it's Navy tech support and you're guaranteed to be talking to someone very far away from you.

The guilt will hopefully pass over time. Addiction is a beast that can never truly be conquered. From what I've dealt with in my own family, sometimes the only thing that changes is people's ability to hide the fact that they're still riding the beast that will be their end. It's never fun.

And this is still not your fault. Hold on to that thread, for it is an important one.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I can't really give any uplifting words or anecdotes, because I haven't walked in your shoes. The single most important thing is that you not blame yourself for this. No matter how you feel right now, this is not your fault.

Pretty impressive for someone mentally ill to make billions of dollars, become a reality TV star, and get elected president. He'd rival only Forrest Gump with those achievements.

Ah, yes. I love it when cultists use that talking point. It shows their lack of connection to reality when they claim that someone who repeatedly went bankrupt because of his inability to sell football, steak, and gambling to Americans is somehow a great businessman. Good on him for clearing the low bar needed to be a reality TV star. Can anyone say President Kardashian? How about Honey Boo Boo in a few decades?

Trump's an old school carnie, like his buddy Vince McMahon. His rise to the Presidency definitely embodies a saying attributed to the most famous carnie of all, P.T. Barnum.

Beyond that, Trump's story could easily be told as a tragedy. He was born into wealth, and lived a rather middling and useless existence, all things considered. Towards the end of that existence, his ego landed him in the first real job he's ever had in his life. He now has to deal with people who will tell him "no", another thing he's never had to deal with. The man is over 70 and in poor physical shape, not to mention well past the age where his family history of dementia starts kicking in. It's clear at this point that the engine is running but there's nobody behind the wheel. His mental state is increasingly deteriorating, and the stress from this job is likely going to kill him.

He'd be a rather sympathetic figure if he hadn't spent his entire life being a colossal dick to literally everyone he came across.

Miami basically came out of nowhere after a season with a bunch of close games against teams they probably should have blown out. They are prominent because of the last two weeks of blowing out higher ranked teams really.

If they can keep their heads in the game and not let the attention swell their egos, they should be fine. Hopefully that's the case, because everyone's already writing off VA and Pitt and talking about Clemson and the playoffs. It's way too soon for that shit. Focus on next week.
