Honestly, I think it's disappointing in comparison to Empire Strikes Back.

My biggest problem with it is the turning point. Luke is hiding. Darth says he'll corrupt Leia. Luke comes out swinging and Darth Vader is entirely on the defensive after that. The least they could have done is had Luke block an attempted swing. How boring would it be if a Rocky movie had the opponent make a nasty comment about Adrian between rounds and Rocky just came out throwing the first and only punches in the final round?

They tried to be dramatic, but George Lucas has never been great at drama. He excels in the action-adventure department. It's a disappointing rematch to one of the best sword fights in film. The fact that he wins solely by going into rage mode pretty much spoils what could've been a great fight like the first one.

It's always been my one gripe about that film. The ewoks I don't have a problem with. The non-competitive ending to the swordfight I do.

I think the point of it was to show Luke truly was much more potentially powerful than Vader, and he showed it by losing control

There's also the emotional tension overall given that Luke went into it knowing the truth of his father and Vader knowing this time he couldn't pull his punches with an audience present. Hell, I dare say when Luke was looking back and forth at his and Vader's cybernetic hands is just as impactful as the time Luke got his hand chopped off. Was it shocking when Vader maimed him? Yes. But there's not as much "gravity" to it because by that point Luke had already lost and Vader did it mostly to help his bargaining position (it's worth pointing out as well that Vader had no intention of killing him even before we knew his connection to Luke, which takes away *some* of the urgency of the fight), whereas here with Vader sprawled on the floor, defenseless after getting genuinely battered, Luke was clearly the victor and had to rein himself in lest he prove the Emperor right (on multiple levels even) if Luke allowed himself to be goaded into killing him.

The fight in ESB might have been more of an out and out slug-fest with less talking, but it was wholly one-sided and the weight of it doesn't even really hit until *after* the duel with the grand reveal. The ROJ fight is more evenly-footed and needed to be, considering all the luggage being carried into it, even post-lightsaber fight we had the biggest mental fight of the series with Vader's conflict.

I know I didn't appreciate being lied to about it, even after I found out the truth, they kept trying to push it and even punished me for telling my siblings what was really going on. (I literally got no presents that year and was chewed out constantly for almost a month.)

I have no real love for the holiday anymore either on account of having several family members deciding it would be the best time of year to die (not by choice mind you, their health conditions just had awful timing), on top of my being too poor to afford anything for the meal anyway for several years now. (I haven't even had a pumpkin pie in over a decade.)

Even this year I had to content with my dad dying back in October and the possibility I might end up homeless by December. Moments like this make me wish I could just mail-order a cyanide pill, it's just not fucking worth it anymore.

Not trying to one-up topic creator or anything mind you, rather, I can empathize with having all these feel-good-with-company holidays lining up and being left feeling miserable instead because of it due to a lack of anybody to actually celebrate with, or hell, not even having the solace of trying to enjoy them alone. At best I have my brother with me, but he's become an increasingly depressive (and possibly crippled) wreck too.

Eh, I've been told that the most recent Harvest Moon games haven't been the same anyway. Some of them don't even involve all that much farming or town-socializing, which is like, the entire premise of these games. (Instead it's all dungeon crawling and dating sim, which while a perfectly acceptable niche, it's not really Harvest Moon persay.)

Not sure how true that actually is though, the last HM games I played were Friends/More Friends of Mineral Town and I enjoyed those just fine. Though it probably helped that my first HM game was Harvest Moon 64, so I might just be biased when it comes to any game that features those particular town folk. (Especially Elli and Kai.)
