age as we refer to it begins at the "birth" day so this is probably the same for both sides

But if life begins at conception then why don't we use the date of conception instead of date of birth for tracking ages?

It's not called your conception day, and the day of your birth is much easier to track.

But why does age start at the birth day when age should begin at conception? Especially since we can tell this baby's for sure.

Are the specials the 'budget' ones?

Nah that's the Faded, which is basically a stick with a pickup and an output jack.

The special is basically usually just an alternate feature and slightly less "deluxe" standard. Similar/same build quality, but usually no binding, satin nitro instead of gloss (which honestly makes them a tiny bit better for gigging, imo), and usually traditional tuners rather than locking.

I have a 2017 Standard in heritage cherry and it's become my favorite guitar to play. So light and so versatile.

Yeah you're right. I remember now. I haven't looked at gibsons for about 5 years or so and a grand seemed on the cheap side.

@knutjob How can you say for sure? Do you know every single person who plays games out there?

@That_Happened Mental illness doesnt stop anyone from having kids, though. Most people who are mentally sick, actually have kids. Otherwise we would be living in a different world.

To the user who said people have unrealistic ideas about what it is like to have a kid lol. No. I can see, I have two ears and all my senses. I see people living slave lives because of kids. They still love their kids, but a lot of people, if not most, complain. It is too much work. Until your kid is 10 or something, you have to be around them 24/7 basically, nonstop. You have to drive them to places. Worry about their health. Worry about their leisure time. Worry about their everything. People here are clearly underestimating how draining this can be.

i was just making a statement how it seems kind of sad that a person would trade off having a family, raising & shaping a human life, etc so they have more time and money to spend on video games, comic book movies, and weekend trips.

and maybe im wrong about 9am to 8pm, it's more like 9am to 7pm and then you get home and have to answer work emails on your phone and take a call or two

I think your point of view is self-righteous tbh. You mention how people live boring/mundane lives without kids. But there is nothing more mundane than the typical family life. As someone mentioned, changing diapers, paying bills, befrending the parents of your kids friends, checking if the kid is doing homework...

People live boring lives, because the world is boring. Most people have to face things like office work, doesnt matter if they have kids or not. The difference is that if you dont have kids, you can actually do something more unusual and uncommon with your life. You can jump into the unknown, you can take risks. You dont have that weight/responsibility to carry with you. The only person you are responsible for, is you.

Having kids is like some kind of death. Your individuality is dead now. A lot of possibilities in your life shut down. Im sure some people like to devote themselves 100% to another human being, but it isnt for everybody.

The vast majority of people live boring unimaginative lives whether they have kids or not. Someone who is overly concerned about their gaming time is not the person who is going to break the mould.

I'm not sure being wrong by a factor of 400% proves your point but hey I already conceded each to their own. Fatherhood brings me immense amounts of happiness and I never feel like I'm going without as a result. On the contrary, family gives me a secure platform from which I can go out and achieve what I want from life. And for the record, changing diapers is the biggest non issue around.

For starters, I'm not the one who brought up $1M, so I'm not trying to make a point like that.

Secondly, $250-300k is a lot. Plain and simple. I don't want to spend that much for the end result of, what exactly? A warm fuzzy?

Thirdly, it's objectively impossible to say diaper-changing is a non-issue. Compare two situations, A and B.

A.) Single guy with no kid. Playing video games. Nothing changes.

B.) Married guy with kid. Playing video games. Wife is out. Kid starts crying and you smell poop. You change the diaper.

As easy as diaper-changing sounds, it's objectively wrong to say it's a "non-issue." Your gaming was interrupted so you could go play with poop. No kid? No interruption!

Your argument hinges on the idea that having a family is some kind of superficial happiness but playing games isn't. I guess we are just different people with different perspectives but as I said before, each to their own.

I dont understand people that dont want kids. Id get it if they had some super important/powerful career (doctor/lawyer/Hollywood actor/etc) or live some unusual lifestyle (I.e. living out of van).

But usually what you see are people living typical wagecuck lives, working some dull office job, yet they choose to eschew having a family.

Why? So you can focus more on watching Marvel movies, playing video games against teenage boys online, slaving away on spreadsheets for 10 hours a day, and using your two weeks a year of vacation time to go to London to take pictures of Big Ben and then come home to get back to the 9am-8pm grind?

Whats the point?

What's the point in bitching about someone who works a normal job, enjoys Marvel, and plays video games online not wanting to have a kid when it has literally zero impact on you whatsoever?

(Also 9AM to 8PM? Who the fuck works hours like that? That's not a normal office job)

Because one child costs $1M to maintain until they turn 18 and now you have to deal with their college debt.

By this logic my kids should be costing me 2 grand a week. Guess what? They aren't. Your statistic is bullshit.

1vw04V4

So, yeah, it's not $1m, but still. 250-300k over 18 years (followed by college funds which could be up to another 100k) is not the price I want to pay for years of crying and poopy diapers, followed by reckless destruction and whiny "everything is mine" years, followed by angsty "I hate you, parents!" teenage years, and capped off with another massive payment to a college, culminating with them getting their own job and calling you once a month to say hello.

Other than the primal urge to reproduce (which I apparently don't have), I will never get it.

It seems many of the Muslim holocaust banner photos supposedly from the march in the media were sourced from a wsj article who in turn sourced the pictures from a far right rally in poznan in 2015. When called out on this wsj defended themselves by saying they never claimed the photos were from the war saw March, despite they were included in an article about the march.

So much nonsense in this topic.

This is an annual March for the independence day celebrations that has been going on for a decade and is usually organised by the city's president.
It largely wasn't white nationalists. There were all sorts of people in the crowd including people with anti nazi banners and minorities, some of who are suing the media for calling them white nationalists.
The white nationalists are the most visible because they aim to move to the front of the march. This happens every year and they do so because to incite clashes with police and counter marches.
Polish nationalist groups involved with the march have been around since the 30s. The fought against the nazis in ww2 and don't identify with the third reich.
The vast majority of poles don't approve of these extremist groups and they don't exist as a result of moderate views being ignored since Poland politically is conservative across the board. The furthest left major party is comparable to Reagan. These groups exist out of frustration from wealth inequality within Poland combined with a culture of football hooligan sectarianism.

And how did they lose?

What they really wanted was for the South Vietnamese to stand on their own, but the SV government was made up of all the colonialist appeasers from the French era who were more concerned with getting as much power and wealth from their new occupiers as possible. There were multiple coups in the SV government during the war, while the NVA put up a united front. The Americans were also kinda clueless about how to fight against guerilla warfare in the jungle, bombing the shit out of the enemy doesn't work very well when most of what they were hitting was just trees and the enemy were mostly hiding underground. Poorly trained American conscripts routinely blundered straight into traps and ambushes, and when they did win fights against the NVA they just let them disappear into the jungle again and regroup. It was very difficult to track the NVA's movements through the jungle, while they rarely had any trouble whatsoever in finding the Americans.

Finally, Viet Nam had a long history of occupation by foreign powers, and a lot of people were sick of it and were determined to fight to take back control of their country by whatever means necessary, while it was just a big political shit show for the Americans who kept playing the hokey-pokey with the war.

Shrug. I love being a parent. My kids are amazing and bring me happiness every day. I also have a full life outside of parenting. It is difficult and stressful but I think the main problem is people just stop trying. Self defeatism is so common these days. I'm sick of people my age saying things like 'I'm so old' and 'I can't do this this thing because reasons'. If you don't want kids, that's fair enough, it's not for everyone, but I feel a lot of people have been beaten into thinking it's some kind of horrible game over scenario. Also the population growth people need to realise that what first world millenials do with their potential parentage is going to irrelevant in the coming decades compared to the population boom just about to come out of Africa. Populations in America and Europe are largely stable and have been for a while.
