No, there isn't. People have a emotional reaction to it though because the statement itself undermines an absolute power some people seek.

The issue is, some people will take offense because admitting there are shades of gray and nuance in what maybe occuring undermines the subconscious objective, which is the total destruction of people in these positions of power when they sexually exploit a coworker/employee. If we admit getting drunk at a Christmas party and hugging a female coworker for a little too long is not as bad threatening to fire an employee for not watching you jerk off, it means they can't exploit the same demands and expect the same punishment. It is a statement which strips power from the victim, and even if it does so in a righteous and logical way, the emotional reaction is the same as if the victims were being stripped of power in a bigoted or authoritarian manner.

It is a human reaction to oppose something that diminishes your influence in society, but having that influence doesn't mean the influence is just. If we over-prosecute people for milder discretions we only create new victims and new biases.

The telegraph cites "well-placed sources" as their source of information. Given how Trump has so often emphasized that announcing plans for an attack is stupid, we can assume either this is a complete fabrication, or someone is leaking information in an incredibly dangerous way.

Military strikes don't happen overnight, and if someone involved in their planning disagrees ideologically with it it's not outside of the realm of reason he would leak info.

did you not see RotJ? Luke's entire arc in that movie was about him being tempted by the Dark side and almost giving into it. this wasn't any different, imo.

Him getting mad at Vader threatening his sister and going off isn't comparable to him nearly killing a kid in his sleep 20ish years later imo. Especially since his whole thing in RotJ was fighting for his father's redemption and with Kylo he seemed to give up way too easily.

He only "gave up" when the force showed him the sheer Darkness in Kylo and gave him flashbacks of Vader and Palpatine. And even then only for a brief moment, but that loss of composure was all it took. After that Luke had no way of getting to Kylo as he fled to the clutches of Snoke and the First Order, and had lost the will to fight after failing his sister and his dozen or so dead students.

It was a far more traumatic failure than anything he experienced in the OT, and his personality had already shown a weakness in resolve at times (Though in the face of less severe circumstances he had prevailed).

Everyone hates on that Leia space scene, but I fucking loved it, one of the coolest parts of the movie imo.

I love shit where the force is overpowered and stuff, like in the extended universe. I'm the kind of guy that wants to see Jedis move a planet and shit.

So when Leia came back to life and started flying, I was like, fuck yes, this is awesome. I love Leia, too, and always appreciated the fact that she does indeed have the force in her, it was just never brought out.

Oh, and the next movie will be a big time skip, maybe 5 or 10 years into the future or something. Resistance will be back to a big thing that can put up a fight. They'll make mention of General Leia in passing, how they miss her and stuff.

With the death of Fisher a timeskip is inevitable. In fact I'm expecting IX to open up with Leia's funeral four years after the events of The Last Jedi, and a eulogy that recaps what she accomplished in rebuilding the rebellion over the last four years.

everything Luke did was perfectly aligned with his character and made perfect sense. those who expected Luke to fight anything in that last battle must not understand Jedi lore very well.

I'd say dropping a dozen building sized death machines trying to kill his sister and friends is a legit defensive tactic.

Luke told you himself he couldn't show up and single-handily destroy the First Order. Jedi are an asset in battle but he is only one man and there is no way he'd be able to take out that small army by himself.

Which is why he did what he did. He knew he couldn't defeat an army so he delayed them, and he confronted Kylo to say what he needed to say to him.

And he became a symbol of Hope the devastated Rebellion needed.

I didn't like that. Even if you ignore the fact that Luke was the only one who believed Vader could be redeemed, why did he never go after Kylo to fix his mistake? He seems to think he was wrong, yet he he just says fuck it and hides on the island and he still tells Rey that she won't be able to turn him back. So would it really not have been wrong for Luke to have killed Kylo?

I liked it. Luke screwed up and he's got some ptsd over it or something. Luke was ashamed of himself. That's an easy feeling to have and hard to come back from(depending on what you did)

It was a pretty colossal fuck up too. He nearly gave in to his fear and killed Ben Solo, then Ben killed a bunch of children who Luke was sworn to protect, then became the most prominent dark side user in the galaxy.

Also, of course, Ben was his nephew and Luke failed his sister and best friend in letting him turn.

I would feel pretty guilty too.

"Becoming a runner" is for when a player is able to continue to advance with the ball. It is an indefinite state that delineates the "before" the catch from the "after". Once a player has secured the ball and has become a runner, the ball has been caught. This is also important to protect wide recievers from needlessly harsh hits, where a "runner" is capable of defending themselves and no longer afforded protection from certain hits.

But what if the player never becomes a runner? If a player is going to the ground, it is very likely he will never "become a runner". This means not only does he still need protection from certain hits, but it also means we have no delineation point to judge when he caught it or not. So what is the rules priority? Well, for starters, the most basic definition of a catch is "Securing the ball in the hands", and the most basic definition of an incomplete catch is "A pass that fell to the ground".

So, priority should be that the ball doesn't touch the ground, with the exception of well secured catches. Great, but when do we define it as caught? Well, we know many diving catches start with a ball secured in the hands of the receiver, but immediately after the ball is shunted out by the force of impact with the ground. Do we call that a fumble?

No, because that would be ridiculous. The number of receiver fumbles in a game would drastically increase, AND there is no parity with our rule for "Becoming a runner"--Namely, that an upright player would have far more time to secure your average pass before it could be slapped out and become a fumble compared to a diving player, who could have milliseconds at best.

So it's clear we need a delineation point for going to the ground that can afford receivers the same breathing room. It can't simply be any downed contact, since someone's knee tapping the ground tells us nothing about how well he will secure the ball through the maneuver, nor does it solve the problem of an outstretched receiver catching then immediately losing the ball to the ground for a fumble. The obvious answer is, the delineation point is when the player has made full contact with the ground. Thus, "Surviving the ground" as the rules describe.

If you can't land on the ground without losing control of the ball, it isn't a catch.

If you can't become a runner without losing control of the ball, it isn't a catch.

Are you falling to the ground while making the catch? Ball can't touch the ground unless you have total control of it throughout. At that point you're ACTUALLY just throwing the decision to the ref.

This rule is consistently applicable in theory. It has only one fairly distinct moment of subjectivity--If the ball touches the ground, was the player in total control of it at the time? If not, incomplete.

There is very little subjectivity to whether a player is a runner or not most of the time. Did James become a runner? Well, since running involves being upright, and James immediately started going to the ground when he was catching the ball, not only did he fail to become a runner but he never he attempted to.

I don't even get how it's controversial. The dude begins the catch falling to the ground, and the ground literally knocks the ball out of his hand. Not jostles it slightly, his left hand loses any semblance of control on that thing and his right hand is stuck trying to wrassle the thing against his left wrist and back of his left hand.

No catch. What, do you need the ball to bounce cartoonishly in the air to be any more clear? And for fuck sake, crossing the goalline doesn't automatically make something a catch. In fact it has nothing to do with it, other than automatically ending the play once possession is actually established and awarding 6 points.

OR another explanation would be that each and every spacecraft create a light atmosphere barrier around itself. This includes gravity. This would also explain why there is sound in space.

They were clearly dropped, for starters. For an object to accelerate that quickly the dreadnaught would need to be generating planet-like gravity, which would not be a subtle thing. It would mean its presence in any star system for any significant length of time would throw planets out of orbit, and all sort of fun stuff. It's a really stupidly big plot device to explain something that should never have made it in the movie to begin with.

Anyways, most of that space battle was extremely tenuous in terms of rational warfare. It clearly was not written by someone with a strong grasp on military science, but that's fine. It's an action movie and realism is not its goal, but that doesn't mean seeing stuff "fall" through space isn't jarring. It's something that isn't worth trying to explain away--It just should never have happened. But it did, so here we are.
