I had no interest in that franchise after the 2001 remake. It was fun, but I was good with just that one.

I attempted to watch the following two but was so bored out of my tree that I turned them off.

Detroit's had problem for years and years. All the violence goes well back into the 70's/80's with the auto industries and jobs moving out, the black and white tensions from riots etc, the bankruptcy, etc. Doesn't matter what party has its grip on the city, this goes well beyond the political stuff.

They're slowly turning it around though, little by little, which is nice to see.

IMO, and i'm probably the only one who wants this, but another romp through Crystal Lake with same old Jason back (from the reboot).

But, set it in the wintertime. Have the Jason fodder go ice fishing or whatever for the weekend. You could play around so much with the winter setting - winter kills (icicles, snowmobiles, snowblowers, various ice related tools etc), tracks in the snow, heavy snowfall, the frozen lake would make for a good chase scene, Jason in heavy shredded winter clothing would look badass, etc. I'd be all over that.
