That's a shame, I knew the company was having some turmoil in the background, but it didn't seem like anything that would cause an outright shutdown (but rather just a change in management).

Hmm, I wonder what this does for my Steam achievements? I'd rather have the ones for Marvel Heroes wiped completely clean and removed from my account then have unfinished ones lingering there forever. In-game achievements I have no qualms with, in fact, this is probably my best chance to unlock that one Gambit costume (aptly called the "End of the World" Trenchcoat) because I'll be able to access the stuff I couldn't do before (like getting all heroes to max level/beat them with Doctor Doom, etc) if they're serious about giving *everything* away for free as the end times approach.

Sad irony, they were working on an Apocalypse related event last I heard, but I don't think they ever got around to adding it in for the PC version (and now it will never happen).

Oh, ha, what do you suppose the odds are of them pushing out a last-minute patch that re-enables the Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer (and all related costumes) just to give the finger to Disney and Marvel?

Nah, I've been seeing that term for years, first time was in Star Wars: The Old Republic shortly after it went fee-to-play and EAware cranked out their Cartel Market, loot boxes and all.

Now admittedly, some would argue that these whales pretty much keep a lot of F2P games alive single-handily (and I don't doubt it), but then I've seldom heard anyone complain about those particular pods, especially when they're just buying up cosmetics anyway. It's this other species of whales, the ones circling games that already have a price-tag *and* their cash is going towards pay-to-win schemes that people have nothing nice to say about (and for good reason).

Hell if I know what pre-built brands are worth a shit though (up to now I've just been stuck with hand-me-down Dells and HPs), or even what websites would be trustworthy to order from (said hand-me-downs typically came from Wal-Mart or Best Buy in-store).

I know that building your own PC can be cheaper and better because you're choosing what goes in there, but I don't know the first thing about putting one together and would rather not risk a situation where I spent hundreds of dollars on a part I then proceeded to either break accidentally, or find out too late just isn't compatible with other parts I bought.

So this is where you come in CE, I figure some of you know better about what brands/sites/options are worth dealing with and would ask for your recommendations. I don't really need some massive beast of a machine with bleeding edge parts though, as long as it can play games from at least 2015 at medium or so settings, I'd be content, and I'd have to know what prices to expect before I can start weighing them. (Only other thing I can think of is that I would vastly prefer a desktop over any other alternatives.)

I expect there might be further questions from you folks as I'm probably forgetting something, and I *know* I'm ignorant on the subject overall so I may not even be asking the right questions to begin with.

Yes, I turned 34 back on the 14th. Unfortunately, I was having the exact same problem when I was 19 so it never felt like age was the issue.

I have a GED (got it when I was 23), but it's been functionally useless to the point I regret even having it, especially when I've heard/seen plenty of people getting hired without one simply because they had some, *any*, previous job experience to my zero.

I can't afford to do or worry about volunteer work as I need to be making money *now* not several years down the line with a big fat "maybe" pinned on for good measure, assuming anyone even cares. I'll just end up as some dumb sap that gave and gave but got nothing in return.
