Your thoughts on Afghanistan?

Yup. Gonna try this sort of thing out.

Every day I'll try to get a new poll up in which we rate all the nations of the world on a scale of 1-10. I'll have the results posted below as well. It will be tackled in alphabetical order from A-Z. A 10 is 'I love and adore this nation' and a 1 is basically 'horrific hellhole of a nation'. Some basic facts below.

Name (official): Islamic Republic of Afghanistan
Population: 34,656,000
Capitol: Kabul
Official Language: Pashto, Dari
Government: Unitary presidential Islamic republic
Current Leader: Ashraf Ghani
Motto: "There is no God but Allah; Muhammad is the messenger of Allah."
GDP: $21,000,000,000
GDP per capita: $572
Currency: Afghani
National Sport: Buzkashi (Goat-Pulling)

Fun Fact: The worlds first oil-paintings come from Afghanistan in the caves of Bamiyan and date back to about 650 B.C.

Not really. Plenty of schools don't have them and those that *do* tend to either have them be individual stalls or in places where it's expected you'll wear swim uniforms. It's often a bit obvious as to why as well. It's not like they're expecting students to live at the school and shower there in the morning after spending the night snoozing in the woodshop.

Are too afraid to say that they support Trump, even now with him as president, out of fear of backlash, public shunning, and potential repercussions elsewhere? Do you feel like the far left has gained a strangle-hold on the media and is willing to crucify anyone who does not agree with their political agenda? Or do you feel like Trump never really had much support in the first place? That the media is largely unbiased and Trump, and conservatives in general, are just that bad?

No. It's not.

Putting aside the current PC environment, it's really not. You need to sit down and work hard to get anywhere's. A lot of PoC seem to think that being white gets you things like, say, a white Santa coming by on Christmas and giving you an office job and PS4 when, in reality, the majority of us end up working the same crappy manual labor jobs that the person who believes in white Santa does. We sit down and have to work hard at school, need to work hard for raises and paychecks, and so-forth. Plus we have a constant string of negative stereotypes that follow us around just like PoC; like the redneck or white trash ones.

Factoring in the current social justice climate and it can be outright terrifying. Imagine potentially losing your job because a PoC decided you were racist and filed a complaint with the company; regardless of if you were following the script or even said anything to them. Or hearing constantly about how your race is horrible monsters who do nothing but enslave, oppress, and abuse PoC despite how your ancestors didn't even come to 'Murica till 1930 and you come home to cry every night into your mattress in the barren hovel you call 'home' because your entire life is basically devoted to trying to get enough money to pay bills. Heaven forbid you are a straight, white, male and say anything against whatever the current PC focus is on.

It's like people hear that you're an elf and instantly assume you're the high elf kind whom everyone loves and adores who get everything handed to them on a silver patter, only to find out you're a Santa/Keebler elf who spends their days working hard to make small things they took for granted or a Dark elf whom people outright despise.

You make no sense.
Mating is the end goal of dating, otherwise you're just good friends. If she's too young to bang, she's too young to date.

Though, even if mating IS your end goal, you can't opt to just wait it out till she's legal?

So it's either a 14 year old... or an 84 year old. Yea. I'm going with the former. Dating someone doesn't mean I'm *doing* anything with, or to, her or that I desire to do the horizontal bop until she's legal. Sides, I can probably get her to at least like games a bit (if she doesn't already) and who says it HAS to last and I can't just break up with her?

Compare that to a woman who may no longer be able to control her own bowels, likely won't live more than a few years, and may not even be able to remember who I am... yea. I'm going with the younger girl. Had it been double there *might* have been a dilemma, but it wasn't.

This is kinda stupid for a question. If you're 36 or older (or live in a state/nation where the AoC is lower than 18) not only is the former answer legal, but the latter has you dating someone who is 108 at LEAST! Even if you're 18 you're still clocking in at a minimum of 54 years old. Triple is just too much since there is a good chance the person you're dating will be dust.

Besides, had Japan not surrendered the subsequent invasion would have almost certainly resulted in massive amounts of casualties on all sides, most certainly a higher civilian casualty count being among that. I'm smart enough to know it wasn't JUST the bombs, but the fact is that... war and history is a complicated thing. It's easy to go 'that was horrible' by our modern standards only for a future generation to see something we decided was terrible was fine while wondering how we could even consider something like exposing our children to the brain-rotting influence of Kindergarten. How could we NOT know just how badly it was screwing up our kids! (Note: I'm not condemning Kindergarten. Just using it as an example of how something we see as acceptable now can end up being condemned by future generations)

Not really feasible. There are a multitude of reasons people will go to war. Be it territory disputes, economic issues, political issues, overthrowing a government (both internally and externally), religious reasons, threat of nuclear weapons, and so-forth. Many of them simply cannot be solved at the diplomacy table or end up have any chances blown apart. For example, WWI started off with an assassination and a sandwich which cascaded into a mire of defensive pacts, political maneuvering, and failed diplomacy attempts. Many despots have both been removed, and installed, by a group of people resorting to violence to oust the prior ruler. That's not to mention the odd sociopath who is just willing to kill and invade to increase their power base.

Saying "We should take all reasonable steps to avoid killing civilians" is not incompatible with acknowledging that deaths will still sometimes happen.

Well sure. However something I've noticed is that it seems nations are MORE than glad to ignore the convention unless it's someone they hate who just killed civilians. Then suddenly it becomes a big deal. I do agree that all reasonable steps should be taken to avoid them. I'm also saying that, when dealing with people perfectly willing to use civilians as shields, use civilian cover to hide, and ignore the convention if they even bothered to acknowledge it in the first place, acting like someone is a monster because they shot a civilian miiiight not be reasonable.

Its not that easy since a lot of soldiers will use civilians as shields and many armies just dont care about the convention. North Korea certainly wont give a crap for example.

So you're saying we should be more like North Korea?

I'm saying that believing something like a simple convention will suddenly turn all war into a clean-cut gentlemanly conflict in which civilians never get hit in the crossfire, people don't use civilians as shields, and it doesn't become important to do things like disable production capabilities (which results in civilian casualties), all to the tune of a piping kettle and hot cup of tea is stupid. We shouldn't be like North Korea; but we shouldn't act like the convention is also going to just stop civilian casualties except when done by crazy sociopathic lunatics either.

Unbridled9
11/26/17 8:22:35 AM

Well, first off you have to have *actual* arguments to back up your opinion. Even if it's on something subjective you need at least some claim to validity.

Secondly, don't be up and in your face about it. One of the quickest ways to get someone to reject you is to come up into someones face and be like 'The world is flat you sheeple and I have evidence to prove that you've been knowingly lied too all these years by evil conspiritors!' That's not going to make you credible (even if it's true... which it isn't). It's just going to make people think you're crazy.

Thirdly. KEEP CALM! You will be mocked and insulted for it; so it's important to keep your cool. If you can come off looking like the better man you can get a lot more people to listen to you. After all, you stayed calm and reasoned while your opponent was shrieking at you.

However, elephants are largely an endangered species. It's not the same as going out and hunting a deer. Do you know why so many people think millenials don't work? Because work usually means having to do things like, well, work with other people. And when you work with other people you hear viewpoints you disagree with and get challenged on them and so-forth. I'd like to point out that that final bit of 'Don't let them. Use this question to call them out. Reveal them for what they are. Demand they answer your question, and when they don't, slap that big ol' Scarlet P of the Patriarchy on them. The end.' should reveal that this person is a bit of a loon. Your choice has absolutely nothing to do with the question of if a society is male-dominated or what-not. It's a question on the value of life. However, it further misses one insane point.

This is a situation in which the conclusion doesn't follow the argument. Roughly akin to pointing out how the smurfs lived in harmony without nuclear power as a justification for nuclear disarmament. Here's why. When it comes down to the pro-life/abortion debate, especially within this argument, the issue isn't one of the value of a human life. After all, it could be easily changed to, say, choosing between saving ten children at the beginning of their life and fifty elderly people near the end. Arguments can be made both ways (and I'm not going to get into which one I feel is right) but then claiming a person hates old people/children or doesn't see human lives as having the same value or so-forth is utterly meaningless. People in panicked or desperate states will not pick the 'honest' answer, they'll pick the one that their panicked mind comes up with first. For example, if you were *really* in this situation, I'm going to wager that, assuming option C was artificially blocked off, everyone would pick A. Why? Because the child is there, crying, and in need of help while your mind probably can't even process the term '1000 viable human embryo's'. After all, your bum's on fire and you're trying to get out of the building ASAP.

But, more to the point, this isn't representative of the actual debate, plain and simple. The question of if a woman has a right to an abortion, the various conditions and circumstances where it would or would not be acceptable, and so-forth, is completely detached from this situation and has reduced a vast multitude of questions, judgements, logic, and so-forth down to a simple 'yes/no' question, disguised itself, then walled off other options. For example, a pro-lifer might realistically try and save both even if it meant that they might die. After all, is 1,001 human lives worth more than 1? They could see the 1000 embryo's as being completely artificial in the context of the question and opt for the child. They could suspect it's a trick question and answer dishonestly. There are an insane number of possibilities, answers, reasoning's, and so-forth. As such I answer C. Die and die flipping off this horrible question designed to shove a political agenda.

Really I'm mostly surprised at how well both V (since it wasn't released state-side until the GBA era) and VIII (very often badmouthed) are doing.

she was not neptunia. that's melissah fan who is Welsh in a different star ocean.

I believe Laura Bailey also voiced Cheria in Graces F

You're making it sound like Welch is this game's Sid. Or is she just in more than one SO Game?

She's the series mascot.

While I can think of a few they're not the 'good' kind. In other words, they're the shitty kind of game where the programming was complete crap. But in well-designed games it's pretty rare.

Probably someone he knows IRL told him that. Anyways, yea no. It's entirely fine to tell a girl to calm down; though it obviously depends on the situation. If, say, she's being mauled by a bear telling her to calm down isn't gonna help the situation much.

I'd say get it.

If you wanna cheese the game and make it stupidly easy, use Reimi. Her combat style is OP'ed in the hands of a player and it's really easy to master blindsiding with her. So much so that it's also easy to fill up the board with skill point chips and max out every skill as a result.

Anyways, game gets more flak than it deserves.

What's interesting is that you can pinpoint the exact moment Bioware gave up the ghost. Namely the end of Chapter 1 of Dragon Age II.

As sad as that is... It's EA. They're the vampires of the video game industry. Taking young, virginal, and blossoming companies before embedding their fangs and sucking them dry till they're withered and worthless husks, then tossing them aside to roam the night for their next victim. This happened with Bullfrog, Maxis, Bioware, and now Visceral.

Is it that serious? I thought these were only reserved for Hurricanes, etc.

Ayup. In fact this is the exact sort of thing that a state of emergency is designed to handle. Namely disaster, civil unrest, or armed conflict.

I feel like the people who criticize Hawaiian pizza have either never had it or have the taste buds of a 4 year old.

Or maybe they have different preferences than you. Shocking I know as most people have precisely the same preferences in everything.

Yea. But there's a huge difference between 'It's not my preference' and 'you put pineapple on a pizza? You're an ignorant monster who doesn't get what pizza is!' I don't like anchovies. I hate them in fact. I'm not gonna give a peep if someone wants anchovies on their pizza.

IMO a large part of the problems with Morrowind come from simply archaic design and poor explanations. For example, the quest journal was just horrible. Disorganized, vague, and simply not well-made. Better difficulty scaling would also be very good. I remember my first (and only) time playing it went basically like this...

Made a mage because, ya know, magic be awesome! Went out into the first town and stumbled about like a wide-eyed newbie would. Eventually left and started heading out until I entered into a cave that had some bandits/slavers in them. Figured 'Okay. This should be easy! Let's see what combat is like!' After all, who in their right minds would put enemies that could so easily kill you right outside the starting town? Died.

Got annoyed and reloaded before heading out. Encountered a little bug thingy. Tried to cast and, since I wasn't being stabbed to death swiftly, realized that my spells were CONSTANTLY failing despite having basically gone as magey as possible in creation. Only theory is because I was trying to move as I cast which seemed like a no-brainer. I mean, I'm squishy so why would I stand in the way? Killed it after much frustration and went '**** this' and rerolled a pure melee meathead. Pounded that bug thingy into dust, reached the next town, ended up getting a journal with a bunch of quests and went 'they're not even gonna sort them out?' Pulled the game out and put in KoToR instead.
