There's a piece of me thinking that he did so to deflect from the allegations, sure, but when his position isn't outright denial, he's admitting that it could have happened, and for that to be the case there's a strong implication that he's gay or bi-sexual. I don't really see the point to wait a week to admit it when he's responding now and the implication is obvious.

1. Him releasing the statement so soon after the allegations went public feels kinda suspect.
2. He literally blamed alcohol for hitting on a 14-year-old, showing a considerable lack of accountability.
3. The fact that he chose to come out in the middle of a statement responding to such allegations honestly just makes it feel like he's trying to shift the tone of the conversation away from Rapp's allegations.
