This "35% of Americans have 401ks or investments" is hogwash. 16-20 year olds make up a decent chunk of the work force, and they're not old enough in most cases to qualify for an employer based 401k.

The statistic is flawed. There's more people you will meet 30+ years old and working that have some form of investment than not.

This kind of thing happens with the continuing education videos that everyone in the financial services industry has to watch. The videos show different unethical situations and always have people of every race and gender in each one -- white, black, Hispanic, and Asian. After watching the video, you're then asked questions about what the regulatory or ethical violation was. In every video, the guy or woman committing the violation was white. Didn't matter if the person was playing the client engaging in money laundering, the bank president committing fraud, or the hot shot broker pushing inappropriate stocks. The wrong-doer was white, every single time.

Yes, I've noticed this. There is also not one home security commercial that anyone on CE has ever been able to show me where the burglar was black/hispanic. Always a white burglar.

It can be different for many people, and of course not everyone gets depressed. But some factors could include:

-College friends moving away for jobs, now you don't have many/any friends
-You moving away for a job, not knowing anyone, single, and end up miserable
-People start having very serious relationships, getting married, and you're still single
-Harder to meet people to hang out with after college.
-The daily grind of getting up everyday and going to work--knowing this is all there is left.
-Being shoved into a career path out of desperation or lack of options---you may not hate the job, it may pay decent, but it's really not what you wanted and you could feel trapped.

Exactly. It's a pharmaceutical sham with false hopes and empty promises. If you're autoimmune compromised and it's a life or death situation, fine, take it.

But the way it's being advertised shoved down people's throats is a sin. It doesn't work. It makes people sick. It has a chance of paralyzing people.

I've known so many people who take the flu shot, or who have taken it. Some get the flu anyway. Others, it's made them sick. And then some don't get the flu---but guess what? Either do I.

I don't think there's anyone I've ever met that says they religiously take the flu shot and never get the flu. And if that's true, great---but I don't get the flu either.
