Like, rebook this a little different.

Instead of Smackdown's final two being Orton and Shane, it's Shane and Cena.

Shane's the legal man and he goes through his offense with Kurt until the spot when he's put in the Ankle Lock.

Cena is still on the apron when KO and Sami strike to take out Cena. A confused Angle lets go of the hold as KO and Sami laugh their way to the back. HHH gets in the ring yelling at Angle for why he let the hold go, they get into a shoving match until HHH finally pedigrees him and puts Shane on top of him. Same sequences, a confused Strowman staring down HHH as he lifts up Shane until he pedigrees him and eliminates him. HHH smiles and talks with Strowman before going out to get Cena and finish the job. However, HHH gets caught with the AA, and pinned with Strowman immediately coming in to put Cena down with the Running Power Slam. Braun's your sole survivor, HHH tries to raise his hand and you still get the final sequence but it makes a lot more fucking sense and you don't feel like Smackdown had no chance and you were just wasting time.

I personally thought AJ vs. Brock was great. AJ is a fantastic storyteller and Brock let him work. There were a lot of little things in that match that just ticked well.

Yeah, the only problem is that too much of the opening was AJ getting thrown around and selling, which means a lot of second half of the match is "big move/sell."

It was a pretty damn good match. I think on the same level as Punk/Brock for different reasons, but I'm glad it felt like AJ wasn't much below Brock.

I honestly wasn't able to tell how much of it was sell. I was getting flashbacks to Daniel Bryan with the Wyatt family and how he was on auto-pilot with a concussion during that thing (though I think AJ was clearly in his faculties by the halfway point). AJ took some horrific looking bumps.

Good night overall. Pre-show sucked which isn't always the case, but definitely was here. Shield/New Day, Usos/Bar, and AJ/Brock were excellent and I was entertained and intrigued by both elimination matches.

Leaving the final elimination match, I'm curious what stories we'll get out of Braun/HHH, HHH/Angle, and McMahon/Bryan... which... wow, it sucks that I'm thinking about owner plotlines instead of full time wrestler plotlines. What did Joe/Balor/Orton/Nakamura/Roode get out of this match? What did Cena contribute besides getting to be in the ring with Angle, which wasn't great? Why is Cena such an ******* that he doesn't even wear blue-colored Cena merch?

And how in the hell is Velveteen Dream vs. Aleister Black better than the majority of this show?

Just starting Takeover, first NXT seen in forever.

NOTES:
- Too bad Ellsworth is gone. I want to see him against Lars Sullivan. Chin vs. Chinless.
- Ohno's a face? I get he's a power striker, but I'm not getting behind a guy whose moveset involves striking the back of the head.
- Lots of strikes, lots of elbows... Lars impressed me a whole lot more than Ohno.

- Velveteen Dream is... different. All-in, I'll give him credit for that, and channeling Prince/Haddaway.
- Aleister Black theme and entrance is incredible. Velveteen's... not so much. Good pants though. And he's not a yeti.
- I thought I was impressed by Sullivan. Then I realized that last match would've looked mediocre back when Baron Corbin vs. Bull Dempsey was on the card after this match. Holy crap they're good.
- HOLY ****!!!
- That was awesome. Is he the last surviving Tough Enough?

- Women's match I was hype for, but it wasn't as good as I expected. Peyton Royce and Ember Moon impressed. Royce reminded me of Tyler Breeze from NXT Takeover Fatal Fourway: Lots of impressive spots and the glue that held things together.

- One of the craziest things things looking back at 3MB is realizing how tall they are. They definitely didn't stand tall back then, but holy crap do McIntyre and Mahal make people look tiny.
- Zelina Vega is hot as hell.

I think the most understated thing is that while the rest of the RAW roster, aisde from the women's invasion of the locker room, came to the ring from the stands and crowd, Kurt angle walked Braun Strowman out from the back.

So if anyone asked where AJ or Jinder or Rusev or English or Breezango were, the answer could be as simple as Braun Strowman.
