Leigh Corfman was 14 at the time of the molestation, and her claims are extremely credible.

There is a reason Moore supporters are focusing on the 16 year old and not any of his other accusers. While they are both monsterous, Corfmans accusations to me were always the most disturbing.

Raises the stakes. Suppose that the signature is genuine. Then Moore is already lying about it, and if a third party concludes that it's a genuine signature, Moore will simply accuse them of being part of the conspiracy against him. Edit: I should also point out, Corrik, that people who do not believe the overwhelming majority of scientists about global warming are unlikely to believe some random 'handwriting expert' telling them things they don't want to believe.

It just further nails in the coffin and bleeds more of his support.

I mean she isn't even the most believable of his accusers. The other underage woman who came out before her had essentially been telling multiple people the same story about Moore for years. And there are tons of corroborating witnesses that Moore had a taste for very young and underage girls.

I feel like anyone who is still around for Moore at this point is in for the long haul, regardless of what happens at this point out. If they're desperately clinging around this one woman hopefully lying when six others have made similar claims, there is nothing that is going to shake their resolve.

One, Rock said it was a very good response without qualification BUT it didn't sound true to him unless he resigned. And he's been the loudest one calling for resignation in this topic.

Two, Reg said it was good ONLY in comparison to his atrocious first statement which isn't much praise. ALSO he's still calling for him to step down.

Yes, this *could* be politically motivated in some way (particularly the response to Franken from Hannity/Trump/etc that certainly did not have the same response to a far worse crime committed by Moore). But that doesn't make the accusations themselves untrue or any less serious.

Well, like I said, how could he lose? If he has an established relationship, was only doing it for him, and was not doing it for other donors... What is your case? You can't prove bribery. Just nepotism or whatever. That is an ethics violation. Not a bribery crime.

I dunno, I think the connection between "this guy gave me 750k, several private vacations, and a bunch of other goodies" and then "I got this guys girlfriends all visas, helped with a medicaid issue he had, and got him a sweetheart deal" is a pretty straight line. "We're friends though" isn't enough plausible deniability. You shouldn't be accepting gifts of this magnitude if you are also doing personal favors for him using the power of your office.

Perhaps you're right that it is too hard to prove outright bribery here in a court of law, but I feel like it is a fairly reasonable conclusion to come to.

Wanted you to give a rational opinion on the California NAACP wanting to have the national anthem removed as the national anthem for supposedly being anti-black and racist.

I mean I have no issues with the anthem and would prefer not to see it changed. It is also strange to me that they specifically cite Kaepernick's movement here, when he explicitly said multiple times his protest was not about the flag or the anthem but rather what he perceived to be the mistreatment of black men in America in general.

(I also think this is fringe thinking that is unlikely to have any real effect on anything so probably it isn't even worth worrying about. There are much better things to worry about at the moment! Like the fact a sexual predator might be elected to the senate because Alabama republicans couldn't do the sane thing and pick the guy that literally the entire Republican Party told them to vote for.)

I'm just saying when people are skeptical about the timing of things being revealed being above the level, they're probably right more often than not.

This specifically made me raise my eyebrow because I don't know if that is even true in this particular case.

Like FFD said, I think a big reason it would come out now and not earlier is because people are emboldened to talk about stuff like this now post Weinstein after seeing so many other people do it and their world not fall apart. I don't think she was sitting on this hoping to one day sabotage someone's political career.
