Jordan Peterson

I consider myself a socialist because i want more equality in the economy. Worldwide in the end, but my thoughts are in 1st world countries to begin with... my focus if you will

I do like the idea of feminism, though i dont like that "they" want make that word mean equality, thats my biggest problem with that movement. Mostly because i think women and men can play to different strengths - and that equality should start from there. I see way too many feminists scream out wage and not consider other differences... Im male, so me trying to look at it objectively is probably not fair, but that goes the other way too

I do however think there should be a limit to how much a person makes.... I think this will be a big discussion the following decades when automation will make it really clear that "real work" vs control is way too unequal.
I think that is my most socialist claim, that and that people shouldnt be able to buy political votes, but thats a problem in both directions, probably... I think way too many way too "right wingers" think that many socialists want to jump from imperfect inequality to imperfect equality.
I think im on the other side of JP on the political spectrum, but it doesnt mean i cant listen to him. Hear and agree with a lot of what he says. I just think the world would be better with less competition... because too much is unhealthy for the whole world IMO - except in sports. Probably unhealthy, but doesnt create wars as far as i know :P

Just watched an interview and im a little drunk, haha. Just wanted to share my thoughts.

Side question: Since im not from the US (or canada) i wonder about what has happened to Jordan Peterson and if its like this "all over". I dont consider myself as left as the leftist he attacks/defends himself against, but is this common or just a few universities?

TopicNew car (Nissan Leaf) just around the corner - tips?
Alkeez

I live in Norway, so the electricity is way cheaper than the gas. + for the time being, its free to go through the toll. I can charge in the area where i live for about 6$ a month, for now at least. They are talking about expanding it for better charging capabilites because more people are getting electric cars - which probably needs to be funded by owners of such cars. As for now and the near future, its very cheap at least

I got a great deal on it and since im not a car guy, the personality of the car doesnt bother me much. Although i agree, i see them everywhere xD But i look at the positive aspect of it - if a lot of people own the same car as me, its probably easier to get spare parts, cheaper service etc

Its the 2017 Tekna version. I looked at the 2018, but that had a waiting line so far that when that comes around, i would probably drool at the 2019 version xD haha. Better to just get it out of the way ;)
Some of the features in the 2018 version looked cool, though. Ill admit that

Ive been looking around on a few forums and found tips along the lines of what i was looking for: Maybe once i give examples, its easier to give more:

A stick of the cars paint job to keep in the car. To cover up if a small stone damages it a little or something
An automatic parking timer, that way i dont have to worry about setting a manual timer everytime. Avoiding them fines
Apparently the night lights/beam (not sure how to translate this one) are pretty weak and i can be better by putting a bigger earth cable to the bulb. Nissan will apparently fix this if one complains about it - free fix
Not let the Leaf continue to charge for hours after it has reached a 100%. From what ive read, that will weaken the battery over time. Im actually not sure how easy this is to do. Anyone got any experience with this?

On the sales papers it is noted that the battery has a warranty for 8years/100 000km (drops below 75%), so i guess that means that they are pretty confident in their batteries, which is a good sign :) It is one of my worries, haha

Anyways: Since ive never had a new car before, there are probably some tips and tricks that i might not need to figure out on my own, given that some of you guys might have some experience you can share ^_^

Even better if you have leaf yourself and might have some tips and tricks about that car.

I love that this topic's obvious purpose is to troll CE and stir up resentment and blame towards whites. Apparently that's totally ok.

Meanwhile, if it were about Islam/Muslims after a European massacre, it would be locked or deleted. Which has happened on numerous occasions.

Curious.

Is that true? Like when its similarly done?

Well, im guessing that not many people will start to hate all whites for this. But innocent muslims/brown people seem to be targeted by hate groups in several European countries for actions done by extremes and deranged people - probably in the US as well

If its true what you say, it might be a reaction to that mentality. That or blaming religions tends to bring out worse language?

I completed the game when i was a kid, back when we didnt have internet and i didnt understand english xD i cant remember the problem you had, so i probably got lucky, but i remember spending a lot of time to get into that desert temple, because i didnt have that power to open it. I also had to be told by a friend where to look for that ocarina/flute - cant remember if you are told to dig for it or that you have to guess? I also hate when a game keeps the solution from you - i dont have the time for running around everywhere and guess everything anymore :P

Anyways, it looks like you have really tried to like Zelda (remember you from that other topic), so i guess we cant fault you for trying. Different strokes, for different folks, i guess :) i really enjoy the Zelda franchise (even though i started at LTTP and i havent played them all) and i like that the games dont feel the same, even if they are built on the same formula

You should give OoT a chance :) A friend of mine, who never played it before, got the 3DS version and loved it.

And of course games are easier to like when they come out. Because youre comparing them to whats around now. If you play an old game, its easy to get frustrated by bad graphics or bad controls because the new innovations. Some games age worse than others and some age differently if you have played them in the past too - because its easier to remember it compared to others at the time

TC: What are your favorite games that you never played back then, but was fun to play, even though they were outdated? =)

Most older games ive downloaded to play in recent years, ive played before. Not that all those games were great to play again, though, haha.

I would probably give it to some shooter that refuses to innovate. Polishes the graphics a little and releases almost the same product as last year

I dont play many shooters, so there are probably variations and stuff i dont see, but hate it or love it, Zelda seems to change stuff up more

I really loved LTTP and OOT btw. BOTW was pretty great, but i dont think its one of the best games ever, as Metacritic will have you believe

Pokemon was pretty stale a while too, but they have changed a little during the last releases, havent they? More 3D and stuff

I live in Kentucky. They are different. There s 3 types that are confused for each other.

Redneck- likes big diesels, acts like a farmer even if they're not, likes beer and yelling "WHOO!" wears boots all the time, usually hard to get along with

Hillbilly- doesn't really care about material possessions, avoids city life, lives off the land, doesn't associate with anyone but family, don't see these people much unless you get lost in the wilderness. Usually hard to get along with.

White trash- lives in filth, drug addicts, thieves, usually lacking teeth and basic hygiene, people you see at Wal-Mart once a month. Will complain if it gets them free stuff. Impossible to trust.

I always imagined hillbillies to be uneducated (not really dumb), talk slower, but to be generally very nice, in a down to earth kind of way. Im of course not from the US, but thats what ive got from your tv shows, haha

You say you would put the work in, but dont know where to start. Why not try to get help. Im sure your town or county has some kind of service for guidance counseling.

Most people in your situation have just settled on being in a rut. You dont bring up any health issues, so you might have to deal with the fact that you might be just spoiled and lazy? Maybe talk to your grandmother and mother and say you want to do something more with your life and say that you dont want to be babied anymore - as motivation to do the extra work.

Lack of women is probably because of your situation and lack of confidence. Trying changing your situation and bask in newfound confidence. Dont give up just because it starts out hard.

You cant just say to yourself that youre willing to put the work in, you actually gotta do something

Good luck! :) I hope you will find a school/job that can provide more happiness that you can build on!

My guess is that morals are linked to the social parts, since it seems to be cultural. For example: Having slaves werent linked to amorality, since it was accepted in that society. And im having difficulties finding examples of sacrifices that werent religious in nature

My guess would be that religion is linked to some survival instinct or something. Keep you hanging on when all other hope is lost, maybe? Or maybe it comes from some sort of pattern recognition. The tribes that didnt see the patterns of the skies died off - leaving mostly the ones who noticed it to try to explain it - leading to this cant be earthly, so it must mean someone else controlling it etc

Uneducated on this subject, but i find it interesting

there was a time where people unanimously thought slavery was okay? where and what time period?

Around the time the bible was written. Though to be fair, no one liked being a slave, but it was the social norm around that time to have slavery.

the social norm wasn't my question, though. I can't think of a time where everybody thought it was okay, lol.

was just a weird statement to make.

Isnt social norm where you start? Im guessing a hundred years in the future, people will look back on how we do things and have a different standard on how you measure morality. (assuming nothing big happens that knocks out backwards)

You can say that about anything. Going back, slavery has been part of most cultures. I wasnt pointing fingers, neither did i say 100% of some society agreed. I didnt feel i needed to specify this, because it wasnt a part of the point

If enough people in a society want change, change will usually happen. Doesnt matter if its moral or not.
Freeing slavery or throwing the virgin in the volcano

Same the other way around - if enough people doesnt think slavery is immoral, it will probably stay because it works.

Most atheists i know dont really care about what others believe. Its more when people use parts of an ancient book in discussions or something that they will be frowned upon.
And maybe when for example Christians will say that you need Jesus in your life to be saved or whatever - i guess also then

But for saying youre a Christian or believing in a God, not really. I havent come across that, at least. Except for that vocal minority on the internet, that was previously mentioned
