Minor or no, if you're looking at the entirety of what Zelda is as a whole, you cant deny those characters made a huge impact.

Impa, whether you like it or not, added an extra dimension of lore to the franchise that has been pivotal to multiple games in the franchise. Midna, fi, navi, and KoRL are iconic for the franchise in almost the same way Dr. Who companions are for that franchise. Hell, more often than not, these companions (wth, throw wolf link in there too) are essentially the face of that entire generation of zelda; for better or worse. Disregarding each of them is disregarding basically 5 years of Zelda history, apiece. If you're capturing the entire franchise, you can't very well leave off such a large amount just because you don't like it.

If you just want this to be a "favorite characters thing," then please, by all means. If you want it to be a full Zelda thing, you gotta bite the bullet

Yknow, I never had much a problem with teachers at my school.

Yknow who I always hated? The study hall monitors.

Idk if they were former teachers, or just people they'd grab off the street, or whatever, but they were just the nastiest people. Hated kids, clearly just wanted to be at home. All ladies in their 60s or 70s.

I get needing to be authoritarian to keep control. Study halls literally consisted of throwing 20-25% of the student body in the commons area and enforcing silence for the period. No small feat, if a bad one.

That said, there's authoritarian, then there's yelling "Don't you LOOK at my study hall!" at some poor sap as he walks past. And then giving him detention and an office referral when he looks at you in surprise when you yell, for "insubordination." No, thats no exaggeration. Sad sap here, reporting in.

Let's see... there was also the time I was brand new to the school, just transferred in after being in Montessori style schools my whole life. Was pretty dumb back then, had no idea how public schools even worked, and asked what I presumed was a teacher for directions to the classroom was going to (in fairness the school was laid out very oddly, with lots of offshoot hallways and little rhyme or reason to the numbering system). Got screamed at and given a weeks detention because I unknowingly asked one of these bitches. For asking for directions. Because I apparently "insinuated [she] was stupid."

Ooh, ooh, there was the time I got detention and a referral when they screamed at me to spit out my gum... I didn't have any gum. When I tried to prove such thery gave me detention. When I pretended to spit gum out to placate them, they gave me another. Then when they literally made me stand there, mouth open, while they inspected it, they gave me an office referral for swallowing the gum.

And every time one of these old bats retired theyd somehow find a new one. Just as mean as the last.

Seriously, fuck authoritarianism for authoritarianism's sake. It commanded no respect and made all of us hate them more. If you're going to be punished anyway, what incentive is there for following the rules?

I mean... Dundee is supposed to be a social rube. A guy whose heart is in the right place, but ends up doing a lot of things society considers TABOO. The movie's funny, but make no mistake, we're laughing AT Dundee as much as with him. The movie knows and makes it clear dundee is doing the wrong thing; that's the joke. We love him because he's genuine and has no ill will to anyone (except the movie's genuine dickheads).

Meanwhile, all the "proper" people are shown to be insincere dickheads riding on popular trends, looking down on Dundee for their own amusement, or otherwise exploiting situstions, people, or feelings for personal gain or pride.

Microsoft had the worst when the 360 was in its heyday. But those days have long since passed, and they've quieted down a lot. Tbh, the 2014 xbone DRM controversy basically killed that monster dead.

The emperor was never that interesting and really didn't need a backstory or all, but it feels kind of insulting the way Snoke was set up as if he was going to be super important but then they were like "nah it was just a prank, bro"

The difference is the emperor didn't NEED anything. The franchise was new, there was comparatively little lore. It was enough for the empire to be a nebulous entity that took down the republic after corrupting one of its best and brightest. Said empire naturally needed an emperor, and the idea of a dark side version of Yoda for the enemy side functioned fine with the scenario we were given. It was minimalistic, and it was enough, because that's all there was. The prequels then expanded an bit, and the EU even more.

The problem with snoke is he doesn't get the benefit of a blank slate universe./ He represents something that shouldn't exist. The sith are dead, wiped out. The empire was beaten, ending with the battle of jakku. For some random dude to show up out of nowhere, with a suspiciously-imperial looking army, corrupting the grandson of vader, with promises of vader's power... I'm sorry, we need some kind of who and why. Star wars isn't a context-less vacuum, anymore. There is history, circumstance, and knowledge the audience has that directly prevents accepting "some random guy" and being satisfied with it.

Because most AAA games these days reap in nothing but 8-10s from professional critics, and most are samey trash year after year, despite being "critically acclaimed."

If we're talking "stood the test of time classics," though... I'll be honest, I've never been able to get into the baldurs gate games (or planetscape by extension). I don't hate them, but I just don't enjoy them. And I wish I did

I like burgers. If I find a burger stand that I like, eat there one day, like it, and later find out the burgers are made out of pig tongue, brain matter, tar, and a bit of food coloring, I am allowed to be repulsed and not want to eat it. It doesn't matter that it's the same thing I've eaten before, that knowledge is enough of a reason to not want to eat it NOW. And if it repulses me, that's not a bad thing. Chef can go on about how "taste is all that matters" all he wants.

I only go into a store if I know that I will be gone by closing time. I've went into a Little Caesar at 11:26 when it closes at 11:30, but I knew I'd be gone before 11:30.

And the problem is the absurd majority of people cutting it close end up violating the policy. Most retailers aren't this strict with it, but any company enforcing policies as strict as "no new customers 20 mins to close" is doing so because that particular time bracket of customer is likely causing them to hemorrhage money. They aren't gonna incur an extra hour of operating costs plus potential building fees so Joe Schmoe can wander up and down the shelves for 40 minutes past close and get his $5 sandwich.

Yeah, they close off to new customers because there's always that guy who comes in 5 till close, decides to browse for 40 minutes, holds up all closing procedures since employees now can't close the registers, messes up the stock so everything has to be re-cleaned, then leaves without even buying anything because they were "just browsing." To say nothing of the fact that building policies and lease agreements often stipulate that all customers need to be gone by x time, all employees by y time, for insurance reasons and such. Now everybody gets to stay an hour late, the company loses money, the staff/management get chewed out by corporate, etc.

I disagree. For a character so seeminghly cut and dry, there's a surprising amount you can do with the devil.

He runs the gamut from tragic to comical, sly and manipulative to bombastic and overblown. He can be both torturer and tortured, as charismatic as the writer wants. Hell, compare the Shin Megami Tensei devil(s?) to shit like pony island or cuphead. Just because your game features "the devil" doesnt mean you know exactly what youre getting. Which is, ironically, more than you can say for a lot of stories with "fresh" antagonists.
