So you fully support and trust the police and government?

I trust and support them enough.

Like, this isn't some weird, unusual concept. Places with gun control tend to still have military and police departments with access to guns.

People keep the religion but throw out certain beliefs because sometimes the actual society of believers and the tradition of believing it is more important than the specifics of those beliefs.

That makes sense in some contexts, but specifically with Christianity, the entire thing is held together by their Holy Scriptures, which outright state, "Do not change these rules, they are unchanging and ever applicable".

It's the natural result of conflict between the various areas of one's social environment. Often, people would rather reconcile them than give one of the areas up. And since people in an environment often experience similar things, they can usually find groups that share some of these struggles and attempts at compromise. The gradual evolution of the various areas of one's society (including religion) is what follows. It may not be fast or happen at an even pace; but as long as a religion doesn't control all aspects of one's social environment, there's potential for change, even if seems contradictory.

There were a lot of problems with the characters in Justice League.

Superman - basically had bipolar throughout the portion of the film he was in
Batman - better than BvS, but only because they tried to channel a worse version of MCU's Iron Man
Wonder Woman - she was good overall
Flash - relegated to comic relief for most of the film, but I'll give them props for a believable initial character arc
Aquaman - basically has no presence the entire film, and little to know characterization outside of one-liners and exposition
Cyborg - had a lot of potential, but the movie starts with his character arc in-progress and rushes through the development as a result

One of the problems with Man of Steel is the same problem that a lot of the DCCU has. It sets things up to tell the story of a new universe with their own interpretations of the characters, but then they demand the audience view things through the lens of past interpretations.

Like, so what if Superman kills Zodd? That's an established moral quandary for old Superman, not this new Superman. We're given no real indication in the film that this should be such a crisis of character for him, and yet it that's how they tried to portray it by inappropriately referring back to our understanding of his characterization in other series.

It wouldn't surprise me if it beats expectations like Wonder Woman. It seems pretty distant from the BvS/Justice League taint.

Swashbuckling Aquaman sounds weird, but I guess it could work?

I certainly hope it's closer to WW than BvS/JL. Although, if I'm being honest, I don't really think WW was all that great either, just much better by comparison.
