that was one of the big selling points when they decided to make the switch

I guess it depends on what your definition of free is. There is technically no additional cost for the device itself, but you still need to put money on it to use it which is why I say it's not free.

Did you choose to take a toll road without the ez pass? (Yes)

Do the tax payers incur an additional cost by having to send you fine by mail instead of charging you electronically ? (Yes)

Why should the tax payers, and not you, have to pay this extra unnecessary cost created by your decision?

This has nothing to do with being lazy. This has to do with the fact that I don't use toll roads very often so it wouldn't make sense financially to buy an ez pass.

Also, I am a taxpayer so I'm not sure what you're getting at with those points.

I live in Massachusetts and there is a toll to drive on the Massachusetts turnpike. There used to be toll booths and you would pay cash at a booth in each direction (one toll going to your destination and another toll coming back). They've since gotten rid of the toll booths and now use cameras to pick up your license plate then send you a bill in the mail.

Today I got a bill for my latest trip. $0.60 for going to my destination, $0.60 for coming back, and an additional $0.60 for the cost of mailing me a bill to pay the toll.

I called customer service today to find out why I was being charged this invoice fee, and they told me that it's for the cost of the paper they use to send me the bill and mail it to me. I asked her how else would I be able to pay the bill if they didn't send one to me, and she said there weren't any other options. So basically, they only give you one option and then charge you for it as if you requested it.

I get bills in the mail all the time and nobody has ever charged me for sending it to me. She even admitted that she also gets bills all the time and no other companies charge her for the bill, but she refused to admit how illogical and ridiculous the invoice fee that they charge is.

I asked if there was any way to have the fee waived, but she refused that as well. It seems I have no choice but to pay it, but that's the last time I ever drive on the turnpike, that's for damn sure.

Am I crazy for thinking that it's illogical to charge me to send me a bill or am I right to question this charge?

I got an email from Amazon saying I could add a person to my Amazon Prime account for free, so I asked my mother if she would like me to add her since I know she also buys things from Amazon. She said yes.

I told her I just need the email address and password of her Amazon account to add her, and she told me that she doesn't have an Amazon account. I told her you need an Amazon account to buy things from Amazon, and she told me she doesn't think she has one, but she will check on her "big computer".

So then I told her make sure to get me the password, and she asks "my regular password?"

Regular password? What does that even mean?

Yesterday, someone on eBay said that one common thing people do when selling an item for local pickup is to meet at a police station. This is the first I've heard of using a police station as a meeting location. Is it true that people do this? And is it the same for Craigslist?

I'd feel awkward walking into my local police station and telling them I'm just there to meet a buyer from eBay or Craigslist.
