Last movie I watched was the American Death Note adaptation. It'd be easier to list what I did like about the movie tbh.

Willem Dafoe as Ryuk was an objectively perfect casting decision.

Treasure Hunter G looks interesting, and I've actually been meaning to check out Treasure of the Rudras for a while now. What's that one like?

it is pretty good
basically the world is going to end in 15 days and you play through 3 scenarios with different party members all over the world and how they spent those 15 days and what major things they did to help save the world.

then on the last day the lead character from each scenario teams up for the final day
the magic system lets you type in a word and it will be turned into a spell
there are some cheat spells you can create by looking them up like a spell that heals most of your HP for all party members for just 1 MP

it has an interesting story and characters and each scenario feels unique because each character has a different goal.

Kinda reminds me of Live A Live, but with like, an actual interesting premise. I should've tried this game out sooner, thanks for the rec.

gotta be honest i like simple battle systems over complex ones
dragon quest, duel orb 2, phantasy star 4
they dont have much complexity to them but are simple and to the point
i do like live a lives and treasure hunter G
and i like treasure of the rudras mantra system.

I can respect simple, I guess. Ngl I do actually prefer gimmicks, myself (Eternal Sonata with its real-time+turn-based thing, SMT/Persona with weakness exploitation giving you extra turns, that sort of thing), but I can also respect sticking to what works.

Technically done all 3 just for the sake of playing them all, but I ultimately stuck with C as my "canon" ending because it's the only one that really ties up all the loose ends in a satisfying way.

Tbh I probably wouldn't go back to the first game for its gameplay nowadays. I still like the story for what it was, in that it did its job of giving context to gameplay without being a convoluted mess, but the gameplay hasn't aged as well as KH2 for example.

All I know is that Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time had some shoehorned in sixaxis missions and they all pissed me off in some way. So clearly sixaxis was created by someone that hates fun.

I 100% completed Sonic 06 and actually considered it a guilty pleasure.

I thought (and still think) that Robert Belgrade had a better voice for Alucard in Symphony of the Night than Yuri Lowenthal.

Might as well jump right into Ultra SuMo.

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon. These games generally have pretty decent stories; Explorers of Sky (DS) is my favorite though.

Shin Megami Tensei IV and SMTIV: Apocalypse.

Zero Escape Trilogy (Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors; Virtue's Last Reward; Zero Time Dilemma).

Probably gonna get shit on for this (haven't played it myself yet, but I know the 3DS entries are pretty polarizing), but Fire Emblem Awakening. Dunno if you've played a Fire Emblem game before, but the one that literally saved the franchise from getting benched forever is as good a first game as any.

Pokemon Moon, although I think that was mostly because of Ultra SuMo releasing just shy of a year later. I'm hoping a fresh start in the new version will rekindle my interest. Already almost got a full team now thanks to event Rockruff and better early game variety, so that's helping at least.

It's very, very close for me between HG/SS and Explorers of Sky, but I have to give the slight edge to HG/SS. Both are in my top 10 favorite games of all time though.

Kinda the opposite for me. I liked HGSS while I was doing stuff in Johto, then when I got to Kanto it felt more like I was filling a checklist than doing anything actually meaningful. Plus it's a pain in the ass keeping a full team leveled evenly. Explorers of Sky's excellent story beats what I did enjoy of HGSS. But that's just, like, my opinion, man.
