Well, in my case its listening but the point still stands. Partly this but also partly because the people who buy and produce television and movie scripts are also more willing to do what has already been done and is popular over something new and original. Then there's also the tendency to change a script so that it's more "marketable" which basically just means making it less original and throwing in the same old formulaic tropes. Thing is, most scriptwriters don't actually have much, if any, say on the show/movie once their script is purchased. This goes for book writers as well when their novels are picked up for movies or shows. Of course, most people just try and write the same old stories anyway because they want to write to the market. Fun fact, its actually fairly common for literary agents and publishing houses to get manuscript submissions for things like Star Wars fan fiction or "Its Hunger Games that takes place in Hogwarts during Harry Potter's class reunion". --- "Why bother with statistics when reality has already given you its answer." - Purple Heart |

Some honorable mentions include: Eragon/Inheritance Cycle - As much as I liked the books I had a few issues which prevent it from being a top pick. Six Wakes - Pretty intriguing concept. Dragon's Blood and Heart's Blood - Read these a long time ago and only just recently realized there was actually four books in the series. Dragon of the Lost Sea series - Really enjoyed these. Terrible friendly AI Tutorial messages for the same action over and over several hours into the game. (Looking at you Horizon: Zero Dawn. God I hope there's an option to turn this shit off.) I used guides the entire way through both Metroid Prime 1 & 2 in order to ensure I got every upgrade, also used a guide to S rank every mission in Zeonic Front (and even if it weren't for that I still would have needed a guide for that fucking White Base mission), used a guide for Ocarina of Time's Water Temple, and there's more but those are just the ones that come straight to mind Absolutely zero regrets for any of it. In fact, I even have a routine system set up for when I look for something.
