Baldur's Gate is pretty bizarre compared to the rest of the genre.

It's very sandbox-y, companions are extremely flat, the main plot is very thin, you can only get to level 7/8....

But on the flip side, because the plot is pretty thin, you can blitz the main quest very quickly to get on to BG2.

They just need to drop the old control scheme.

L1/R1 = strafe
L2/R2 = Look up and down

What were they thinking with that?

Give us a lock on button and have auto strafe built into the left stick.

Armored Core has had this since Armored Core: Nexus.

And hopefully they don't make the same mistake they made with Chromehounds and AC5--don't build an extremely niche game around multiplayer.

I'm interested in seeing what it will be like with a bigger budget since Fromsoft is no longer a niche developer and you'll get tons of new people who will buy it just because it has Fromsoft's name on it.

Yuri just infinite combos the entirety of Vesperia and can you really tell me that there's parity between Lloyd and the rest of the cast?

They got better with Graces since Asbel isn't even the best playable party member. Berseria's better, too, despite the memes about Velvet.

he is so useless, you have to buy his dragoon stone.
the more I remember about LoD, the more I realize how sucks that game is.

Eh, I wouldn't say that. Overall a great game IMO, translation is rough though.

I'd say it had potential to be a great game, but fall on mediocrity.
even back then, the only thing I found better than other JRPGs are the beautiful backgrounds. additions gets old quickly, the story is very clich even for JRPG standards. it has some nice BGM like the boss battle, but nothing else is memorable. and like you said, the translation makes it even worse by kiddifying everything.

It has great graphics, some good art direction, and the general scope of the Dragon Campaign is pretty unique, but yeah. It was one of many JRPGS made after FF7's success that felt like it was made by people who've never played a JRPG. A game about the Dragon Campaign itself probably would have been a better game.

It also has probably one of the worst main villains/final bosses in a JRPG.

Or is it like, nanomachines transmitting thoughts in seconds? Cause like, everyone in MGS2 demands to talk to Raiden through Codec even if they are standing right next to him.

Don't think about it too hard.

Beyond the obvious part of shielding U.S. leadership from criticism, there's a subtle and cynical aspect of this line of thinking which seeks to equate the U.S. as a country with the U.S. military. You see it too in reaction to players kneeling during the anthem. The flag and the song are not sole property of the troops; we are a nation and not just a military. But nevertheless people try to conflate the two, and it's worth thinking about why.

I've still never gotten a satisfactory answer on why we necessarily play the National Anthem during a sporting event or why or why not in other places, or how not standing for the national is directly disrespectful towards our military.

It's just bureaucrats who vicariously use others (in this case, US soldiers) as a political bludgeon.

Yeah Dunban is a war hero through and through. Even though he does give into his urge to get revenge just like all the other characters, he's pretty much the calmest one all throughout the game, no matter how much shit happens.

For me, Shulk's scene with Reyn is a highlight. Even though he's the shut-in nerd type, he's the one who immediately asks Reyn first to go on a quest for revenge, even though all of his friends were most likely willing to wait for him to pick himself up on a long term basis. Takahashi, the writer, did say he wanted to write cliched characters that break out of their cliches, and I think he succeeds for most of the characters. Though Sharla is fucking boring as bricks, but that's another story.

And since he's a war hero that everyone looks up to, he knows he can never show weakness, despite clearly being a very emotional and empathetic dude. The scene where Fiora brings him dinner and tries to play it cool, but immediately doubles over in pain once she leaves is telling.

Then there's the extremely easy to miss line where Dunban states that he used to be an alcoholic...
