I realized I wasnt great with girls, even though I still could get a dates it would be with girls I had been friends with first. I more or less decided at some point to be myself and talk about programming and Disney and musicals and books and anime and other things I like. When getting my job I also got rid of all my clothes and bought $500 worth, and another $1000 worth after that. I also got lucky with sales. Just following Reddits MFA advice. Not wearing shoes so worn out I can stick my hand through the bottom. Went out with about a dozen girls, most were pretty cool people even if not for me. Made some mistakes, but I learn quickly. I can defintently talk about my Tinder experiences like my Craigslist experiences, and they also wouldnt be believed here. Because for a guy like me to get to the level both were at it had to be a hobby/obsession. I was slightly annoying and dickish about it like Craigslist, but I had similar success and efficiency. Elekta (please dont block based on previous actions). EclairReturns posted... I forget what job you used your physics degree to get. Medical physicist. Pays bank but I could train a decent high school student to do each of my responsibilities rather quickly. I do occasionally get to make meaningful decisions my training comes in play for, but overall I think clinical Medicine is necessary but lacks impact and am considering a CS PhD. But its a hard decision because of the money involved and other personal costs. Zeus posted... Huh. I thought I had finally blocked you. Meh. Well, guess it's nice to hear that you're doing well. PotD has too many sob stories and it's always a bringdown. Ive become pretty zen with myself and others. Im no longer a pretentious bitch who things hes better than everyone else for every damn thing. Its nice to be doing well. I had met someone who did me better than me, and I realized how awful I was inside, even if liked and good on paper it wasnt who I wanted to be. And realizing my current job while has prestige and turns most people into dicks, isnt something that I personally think I can be pretentious about. |

I quite dislike it for everything but the money and work environment. Gonna play me some good Shadow of the Colossus Remake this week and it's gonna be sweeeeet. |

Work may be 9-5, which is longer than most people probably spend on campus on a daily basis, but once I step out that door, my brain is cleared of all work-related s***, and 5-1130 is 100% ME time (plus weekends, which, again, with school, are not as fun because you've got papers and s***, whereas Friday at 5PM to Sunday at 1130PM is ALL MEEEEEE). Mine is not like this. Maybe Ill like it better when I switch from residency. |

| blu 12/21/17 11:14:49 PM #1 | That super high paying competitive physics job I wanted? I hate it. In residency, guaranteed to make 150k+ In 18 months, but its so mind numbing and frustrating. I just want out and to study CS. No longer talk to the Nepali girl I was going out in grad school. Found tinder pretty easy, dating has become more of a hobby, if I dont have a date in a weekend its rare. But its taxing and frustrating. Girls like me enough to stay around for a while, but not to turn into a girlfriend. The last two I really liked and I thought would work had unexpectedly had to move to Britain and Kuwait, so we stopped because emotions and such. Changed my style and through out all my old clothes. Id say this is the thing that actually helped me with girls, going from cargo shorts and graphic tees to dressing stylish enough to get complimented offen. Read some and play piano in my free time. Played my first recital recently, pretty fun. Just dealing with depression in the rest of my time, caused by me feeling unfulfilled with my career. I just dont become buddy-buddy with hospital-types. Theyre good people, but not my people. And Im realizing jobs suck. School is awesome, jobs are so inefficient and waste so much time and have so many pointless things. You lose hope you make a difference in the world. You do a good job and be efficient in school? You got an A and free time. You do a good job and be efficient at work? You get the same pay and more work. - - - Blu |
