Its not about revenge. We just wish you would live what you preach and leave us alone. You dont have to leave. Stay where you are. Just dont brag about how virtuous and good you are. Weve already seen the truth. The actions have somewhat stopped but the mentality is still there. I was in Europe last year and had the exact same experience. I was working with this guy that was going on and on about how I should want to have children, how selfish I am for not wanting them and all that crap. He was telling me this with his mouth full of chewing tobacco. We were driving in a truck on a freeway. He starts telling me how hes doing his part to have his family name carried on and how hes contributing to the betterment of mankind, when the wind blew his cup full of spit all over himself. In between wiping tears of laughter off my face, I thanked him for contributing to a bright future for all mankind. Things people need to understand- Legacy, family names, lineage, contributing to the betterment of humanity and all those other charming slogans are nothing more than catch phrases to make people believe that theyre important. Youre not. Were not. Suck it up. Before you start frothing at the mouth you can start by telling me your great great great grandparents names. If you cant then point proven. If you can, awesome. You still dont matter. You shouldnt need delusions of grandeur to get you through life. Dont fool yourself into thinking that youre more relevant than some parents living in the dirt in the middle of nowhere. Youre the same. No better, no worse. The meaning of life is to enjoy it. If you find your enjoyment by having children or not having children, thats not up to anyone else to decide but you. Whatever you decide, do it to the best of your ability and shut up about it because no one outside your circle cares. --- Being called nostalgic is a compliment. Thanks for noticing! ~C.O.I.~ |

Some have said that pledging allegiance to the flag covers both of those because it says "one nation, under god..." It doesn't cover it. Look at one of many slogans- "God, family, country!" Look at the order. Actually if a person is following what it says in the Bible (according to those that believe in it) pledging allegiance to God is what covers being a good citizen to the country, any country. I'm sure a young Charles Manson or Timothy Mcveigh sound the pledge countless times. It's called being a conscientious objector. A government may call on you to fight for a cause, only to be discovered, after the fact, that the real cause was something different like greed or a land grab. So some decide it's better to not pledge to something that could be corrupt or to not pledge to anything at all. Aside from not participating in pledging loyalty to a country, they might be model citizens. So what's better, a person that salutes everything that others wish but cheats on his taxes, or someone that stands up for what they believe and is a legit citizen? "He got this from his parents." Probably. Do parents have a right to raise their children according to their belief system until the kid leaves the house, or does the government? Interestingly, I would wager a years pay that this teacher would applaud the same stance of the student if it was done in N Korea or anywhere in the Middle East... --- Being called nostalgic is a compliment.
