While life on other planets can no way be proved, I would say life existing elsewhere is more probably then improbable because of the scale we are working with.

We exist and we are 1 planet in 10^24 planets. That is 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
even if the 1 in 10 billion chance to have life were true that would give us 1,000,000,000,000,000 chances of that 1 in 10 billion being met.

The major point of this topic is that what you have posted isn't scientific reasoning, just reasoning.

I would argue it's logical reasoning, but can't be back scientifically till we have more information to do so. Because the argument basically comes down to probability more than anything else...

Logical reasoning to you.

Random deck of cards, the chances of the cards ending up in perfect order - spades, then hearts, diamonds and clubs - are around 1 in 10 to the power 68 (or 1 followed by 68 zeros). That's a huge number, roughly equal to the number of atoms in our galaxy. So I feel you don't understand that it's very possible there is no life out there

False equivalence...

You are assuming the chance of life is equal to or more rare then a random deck of cards landing in perfect order. When you have nothing to make that assumption based off of.

I'm just trying to say that just because the universe is very big doesnt make it likely there is life out there

And I'm trying to say the opposite.
Because the universe is HUGE and we don't have the knowledge level to determine what it takes to "create life."

Assuming that we are the only living creatures in the entire universe is silly.

Let's take it a step further, there are 100,000,000,000 planets in our galaxy alone.
We are a completely random (not special) planet in that group of 100,000,000,000.

We alone are proof that life exists in our galaxy of 100,000,000,000 planets.

To assume that such an occurrence couldn't happen when you now have 10^24 planets is nonsense.

Add another variable. Time. Remember that life on Earth has only existed for a fraction of the universes total estimated time. Giving the time frame were working with, its quite possible we are the only ones, but with a dozen other planets going through a life supporting phase then extinct before Earth was even... well, Earth.

For all we know, life blinks in and out of existence across the universe, sprouting up here or there for a few hundred million years, then dies out. Maybe weve had an unusually long run, maybe were just in our infancy. Without any other planet to observe, we simply dont know what the long term cycles of a life supporting planet are.

The odds are in favor of life existing elsewhere at some point, be it a billion years ago or a billion years in the future. That doesnt necessarily mean its happening now.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fermi_paradox

Seems, to me, that life almost certainly exists out there. The number of planets and star systems out there suggests that to be true, from a probability standpoint.

But to put it in Fermis words, if its so probable, then where is everybody?

Fine. Warrior gets a rocket...

Now what's stopping the mage from warding that damage away to nothing? What's stopping him from using his specilization to, say, freeze the rocket? Or use winds to knock it off course? Maybe he uses his control of fire to ignite the rocket while still in the warriors hands.

Or...he uses mind control again, and now I have a mage, an axe guy, and a rocket armed warrior.

Giving the extremely open ended way magic can be portrayed, virtually all problems could be solved with a high end mage...

Magic is the dominant force.

Yeah if you're a fuckin nerd. An axe to the face is more effective than some fancy fairy spells.

How are you even gonna get that close when magic obliterates you before that point?

A fireball aint gonna do shit unless you decide to douse yourself in gasoline beforehand.

What if he uses a spell that allows him to control others? Now your big tough axe weilding maniac is a permanent friend.

Now you have a mage AND an axe guy protecting you.

Mage 1, axe guy 0.

The mage uses offensive elemental magic tho.

No, he/she specializes in offensive elemantal. That in no way means he is exclusive to that particular school.

The fact that he/she is specifically mentioned as an arch mage implies a high level, leadership role amongst a group of mages. Chances are quite high he/she is at least adept at various other schools of magic.

It depends on how much you value the website you're on getting money from your click there.

That said, I find a lot of tricks they use with ads to be outright unethical, so that goes both ways. Ads with fake close buttons that just bring you to the site, ads that play music or force open to block the whole screen, or ads that bring you to malware infested shit holes. Ad makers can do a lot of shady shit.

I would say if you really trust the site, and want them to make a small amount on your visit, add that website as an exception. Otherwise, fuck em.
