Ok, theory. So Shuichi made a comment about how the sliding door in the AV room is directly across from the sliding door to the library. Based on where Rantaro was positioned, someone could have thrown the shot put ball across the hall from the AV room to the library to hit Rantaro. Now, the obvious suspect is Gonta, since the evidence states that the ball is heavy and would require mass strength to use as a weapon, but like I said, it's obvious.

Another suspect is Ryoma. He is the ultimate tennis pro after all. His backstory says that he used his tennis skills to take down the mafia by hitting them all in the head, much like what happened to Rantaro. Could he have pulled off some epic trick shot from the AV room? The problem there is that Gonta was supposedly alone, so Ryoma wouldn't have been there. Still, I'm a little suspicious.

Himiko is another. I'm not sure what her "magic" entails; if it's just cheap parlor tricks or if there actually is something mystical about her. She seemed very eager to pin it on Gonta though, like she was trying to deflect the blame.

Finally, my last main suspect is Shuichi himself. Now, I'm not sure if the writers would actually pull another Sayaka, but Shuichi did have the opportunity to pull this off. We know he went to the basement alone leaving Kaede behind. During that time he could have very well have done it. Plus he could have rigged the cameras a certain way to where he could bypass the sensors. Maybe the receiver lets him remotely turn them off? He seems like a cool guy so I don't wanna doubt him, but you can't trust anyone in these games.

Also I think I already like Kaede a lot more than Hajime. Hajime wasn't bad or anything, but he was just kinda boring. He didn't seem to have much of a personality (maybe that was the point considering his backstory) and he just wasn't very interesting to me until like the very end of the game. Also I think he was a little too similar to Makoto.

Meanwhile I think Kaede being this super peppy and playful ball of energy is a nice change of pace from the more serious Makoto and Hajime. Like I said before she's just precious. Yeah she's a little cliche but there's nothing wrong with that necessarily.
